1kick-glide vs 2kicks-glide

hello everybody.
i'm training 85m dynamic with fin now. i notice that i feel much more comfortable with a 1 kick & 1 glide style rather than the 2 kick & 1 glide style wich everybody does. i have flexible shoulders and have no problem to narrow my body posture for the glide. i do notice clearly when i do the 2 kick and glide style ,that the second kick i feel more resistence in the water. this ofcourse because of the hydrodynamics which by increasing speed also increasing resistance in water. also (maybe its mentaly i'm not shure) its also kinda feels i consume more O2 and feels more tyering. i clearly feel more relaxt and feel less O2 consumption in my body when i do the 1 kick & 1 glide style.
but clearly al the champions and everybody els do the 2 kick and 1 glide.
however i see that goran colak did something of a combination between the two styles in his last 273m world record, with a relativitly long pause between the 1st and the 2th kick.
what are your opinions about this? is 2 kick realy beter and is this something i just had to get to used to? or is there some truth in my point of view about that the second kick results in more water resistence and O2 consumption because hydrodynamics?

Well, I think it is always good thing to believe your body signals, however there are numerous situations where your senses are tricking with you: I had a number of DNF dives, at example, where I felt as i am going very slow due to greater body/mind relaxation, but truth was (according to stopwatch) that I actually was faster than usual. So, best way would be to experiment with both styles, having someone by the pool to time your laps, and make conclusion what works best for you.
 
Yes I'd agree that you need to experiment to find what works best for you - there are so many factors at play and at the end of the day it depends on your body etc too. It's true that the slower you go the less the drag but obviously too slowly would mean more O2 consumption per metre. Also if you slow down too much with the monofin you need more energy to get going again, I think one of the main advantage of 2 kicks and 1 glide is that you can more easily maintain a decent rhythm/speed. But if you are very hydrodynamic and have a decent kick maybe kick/glide will work best. Some don even do the glide...

i have studied the difference now and i find out there are even differences between people who do two kicks. first are the people who kicking more from the legs. since leg kicks creates more acceleration, therefore more drag when doing the second kick.

and the second kind are people who doing the correct dolphin kick,,
wich the first kick is just a mere result of the undulation of the hips/lower back and the second kick is the accual kick with more force into it. altough it looks like one makes two kicks, but the first kick is just a result because the hips/back goes down.

with goran you clearly see his movements starts from his knees and fin,
and with david mullins his hips moves first than the fin.

you are right concearning maintaining right rythm and speed,
yep its seems i have to figure out my own good rythm wich suits my body the most.
 
I did tried various techniques with the monofin. I seem to do better with continue movement than to kick and glide. Maybe it's because it feels more comfortable because i was a competitive swimmer. My personal view for this is if you have a good static you can do the kick and glide more easily. Look at Fred Sessa video also.
 
today i did again 75m dyn training. First 15min with a correct dolphin stroke 2kick and glide. Then i did the same next 15min, dolphin stroke 1kick and glide. After that i did 1kick and glide but this time with a kick more from my legs and less from my abdomen like goran colak. The last style suits me the best. An correct dolphon kick triggers my contractions quiker and it consumes more O2, at least, with my body it
does. So i stick with the stroke wich most relaxing for my body :) also the 1kick and glide gives me the feeling like i move at the ritm of an hearth beath. :) and that gives me an nice feeling. :)

Maybe we can try a test, like doing a static after an x amount of meters (50?-75?) and see with what technique we have the best static, speed, total time, comfort etc.

I too find that though the abdominal monofin stroke is the most elegant, it does demand more energy.

Also the double Kick 'n glide was made popular by Alexey's 250m WR. So people copy the champion and see how it works for them. I'm happy to see Goran employs another technique so we can see the best technique is a personal one.

I'm in the process of developing two techniques, one for medium-slow, and one for fast swimming. So I can use the slow in dynamic and on the way down, and fast for the way up in CWT.
