Hi eveyone,

AIDA Germany wants to announce the

1st Hemmoor No-Fins only Competition

1st Hemmoor No-Fins only Competition :: Freedive Central

This competition is the first of its kind and solemnly focused on diving in the most natural way - Constant Weight without Fins.

The date is including Ascension Day so we can have a 4-Day event. The first two days will be for training. On Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning will the one competition dive each. The deepest dive counts for the competition result.

Hemmoor can be reached from Hamburg via train. Pick-up from the train station can be arranged.

Accommodation at the lake is plenty. You can stay in bungalows, rented caravans or on the camping site.
See information here: Tauchbasis Kreidesee Hemmoor - Home

The dive site has an installed platform with counter ballast system. The visibility is usually 10m or better.

More information will follow.

Gebongt!

We need more deep competitions in Europe.

I bet it is not to difficult to get Bjarte to tag along to.

Steinar

Ohh... I would love to come. The competition is such a good idea!
But my work is sending me off to Cuba for three weeks...

I will see if I can get a medical statement off sudden something...

All support and luck on the competition!
Morten

Grrreat initiative!!! - people give Martin reputation points for his dedication!

Martin I love to come and do my best to get in shape before the event!
I quess the online subscribtion form is in the works?

The Dutch Record is at the moment 44m, by Daan and we both like to to reach the 50 CNF.

Hemmoor is 60 meters deep, sweet water lake.
The visibility is very nice, the 10m mentioned is more of the low number, but I've seen 15-20m there.
Last end of June the there were 4 termoclines. The surface temperature was 19 c, at 7m - 12 c , at about 25 - 8c after 45 - 4 c.
A good result and record here is one to be respected!

So for all you training out there, you may want to adopt the 'no water warm up' approach. An approach that is becoming popular in Sweden's Depth competition.

Spread the word,
See you down there!

Thanks Martin!

Love, Courage and Water,

Kars

Morten, You could also work extra long hours, get a 'burn out' two weeks before the comp.
Sport is the way to get out of your 'depression'.

Martin,

Yes those photo's were made in 2006 at the Hemmoor Apnoehappening. - Don't you recognise the wonderful turquoise water?

I would love to get on your list but I don't see any 'register' button? Maybe because I'm not a member of the Freediver Central site? - I prefer to register directly without 3rd party hurdles.
Will an email with the usual AIDA Germany competition information, AP, PB, name birthdate etc. do to? - I just have send you one.

I'm sure others will love to dive in too!

Kars

My god Martin, such a lack of ambition.
Go the full length, announce the:
THE FIRST INNOFICCIAL NO-FINS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

DNF - CNF - FIM- STA

Dont bother to bring your fins.

Overall winner from all these no fins disciplines.

But, OK, 2xCNF is good enough, I might come.

The idea crossed my mind but I remember very well what hassle it was to geth the dynamic ropes in the water... and building the tank for STA was no fun at all... So we will keep it "simple" this time.

But, OK, 2xCNF is good enough, I might come.

I would very much like to see you there!

M.

Wonderful Martin! I have signed up and my credit card is having a melt down when buying tickets, but I don't care. I'm just smiling.

Hi Martin, are you already warmed up a bit?

How many participants do we have already? - I see on de Freediver Central 4, but I've submitted an email expressing my will to participate, which I hope you've got!

I'll advertise your great event in Belgium.

Oh and how much will the participation cost? - I couldn't find that number, and I'm sure you have some expenses.

Let's help each other out and do some promotion!

Love, Courage and Water.

Kars

ps, I have some big ambition for your event for which I'm training hard now!

Hi,

time for an update.

10 athletes are inscribed and some more are tackling the system. See in-list here:
Freedivers on 1st Hemmoor No-Fins only Competition :: Freedive Central
If you have not yet signed up, please hurry.

the preliminary schedule looks something like this:

arrivals on Wednesday night (20.05.2009)

Thursday - early bird training (for those present), breakfast with meeting, theory: equalization (nose clip, no nose clip) / mouth fill at CNF, training equalization (nose clip, no nose clip) / mouth fill at CNF, shopping at supermarket, BBQ at the lake, night dive

Friday - early bird yoga (for the real freedivers), early bird training (for all), breakfast with meeting, theory: dive preparation and technique training for CNF, training, debrief/discussion/ announcements, BBQ

Saturday - training or relaxing in the morning, 1st CNF competition dive in the afternoon, debrief/discussions/ announcements

Sunday – 2nd CNF competition dive in the morning, Award ceremony, departure.

This is all subject to change. We will look at every aspect of freediving without fins and look into every detail. We will have Velcro tags (thanks to Chille) and you can train working with them in the morning dives. We will look at your lanyards and test them (the Bill way, though not with 100kg drop). We will look into safety issues as well.

If you have suggestions, please let me know.

I have no idea if they have internet at the dive base but will try to keep you updated.

PS: Anna is bringing a TV crew… again… so be aware you might end up in German TV!

The tags will be made of the soft side of the velcro, so glue a piece of the hard side on your suit or tape it to your belt or neckweight for easy atachment of the tag. The tags will also have an elastic loop as usual, if you want to put it on your wrist.

See you all in aweekandahalf!

Just quickley the results of the competition:

Women:
1. Anna von Boetticher CNF -35m NR
2. Ilka Michaelis CNF -30m PB
3. Elisabeth Kristoffersen DQSP

Men
1. Jonas Krahn CNF -53m NR
2. Clemens Neumann CNF -35m PB
3. Igor Migunov CNF -34m PB
4. Ulrich Wulf CNF -33m PB
5. Jens Berger CNF -32m PB
6. Christian Ernest DNS

Overall a very sucessful little competition. Lots of happy facesl, lots of PBs and two new German Records (as we still count sea and lake records seperatley...

Pictures and stories will follow...

It was a great weekend, even though it didn't include as much depth as I had hoped for (had problems with ears). Must say it's a real challenge to do CNF in cold waters with a mask and a 5mm suit! So the lake will be deep enough for this purpose for a good while, at least for me.

For those of you who stayed at home, you missed out on some terrific fresh fish on the grill... mmmmm! Better come along next time

Hi everyone,

I also was there, but did not officially participate due to a 19 day to old Medical. That bummer aside it was a great weekend. Great weather, great people, great atmosphere, nice water, starry nights, warm barbecues, and nice PB's

I also enjoyed a nice pb of 46m CNF in my 2XU triathlon suit, here some photo's:

Made by Aart den Oudsten.

Hopefully we'll catch more divers next year, and same great weather!

Love, Courage and Water,

Kars

ps. The water temperature was: ~15 C at the surface, ~ 8 C at 10m, ~ 4 - 2 C below ~25m. The visibility was around 15m; near the sides it was less due to the previous rain.

Kars forgot to mention that his -46m CNF dive would have been a new Dutch record.

Absolutley astonishing performance, Kars! Next time, please make sure your medical certificate is still valid!!!! It'll make things lots easier for you and the organisation...

I would have loved to verify this record.
