So with little diving happening at the moment how about posting your 'Best and Least' Spearo trips of 2012 & 'Targets' for 2013

For me:
Best: I love exploring new areas, i had a day out in/off the kayak during the early summer, loads of good size fish seen and crystal clear water. Blue sky and light winds. Perfect.
Least: a generally windy summer meant i had too many dives in really poor vis. Can remember diving with fishing boats around [i hate the sound of propellers close by] and almost zero vis. sitting on the bottom wondering why i was there...

Goal for 2013: 2 years ago i targeted Plaice, last year was Bream, so this year i am keen to try and find a Good Bass over the sand - hopefully diving some of our shallower banks.

So c'mon, post your 2012 Best, Least and 2013 Targets... :friday:friday:friday

Best - my birthday gift was a new camo wetsuit. It fits like a glove and it's super warm :)

Least - Circumstances allowed for no spearing in 2012, so it doesn't get much lower than that. It was just not possible.

2013 targets - I'm planning to get my fishing license this year and go spearing! I'd be happy to spear some nice, tasty fish. I like to start with simple goals and go from there.

Best - beatin my Pb bass 3 times within half an hour, and winning fish of winter with one of the fish.

Least - being unable to dive for 2 months due to an injury at work, whilst everyone else was catching decent fish : (

Goal for 2013 - to shoot a cod

Best: Late August, cloudless evening with the sun setting, perfect viz, exploring an amazing spot on the South Llyn with my girlfriend following me on the kayak - I found a wall stringweed that extended for about half a kilometer and took five fish all in the 4 - 5 lb range. Spearing nirvana.

Also, fishing with Daf & Winky in horrific conditions on the North Llyn watching gale force winds whipping the surf off the reef. Viz was crap, the current was running, the conditions were terrible but I felt so privileged to be there - it was completely surreal. I even managed a couple of decent bass :blackeye

Worst: Almost getting shot in the face by a malfunctioning Sporasub One Air.

2013 Goal: Get to the coast more. Simple as that.

Best. Late afternoon in late spring, no mind to worry, no strict timetable, no commitment nothing to do, only me and my spear gear in my favourite divespot, very pleasant dive, no pain in the ears, 4 shots 4 fish (yeah!!!), and then me and myself drying up sitting on a rock watching the sunset...

Worst: the above was a one-time event year round (had a few other dives but always on the run to hurry up for some must-do...).

Goals: more of that!

Best - getting my first bass and then number 2 just 20 minutes later. To be honest, as it was my first season it was all good as always learnt something or got better at something with each dive.

Least - apart from a few times it was utterly pointless getting in the water as vis was non-existent, my main curiosity and frustration is wanting to know why mullet seem to be so elusive to me but not everyone else!!! Have only seen 4 so far which were all together, I managed to shoot one though which was good:)

2013 - Generally continue to learn, improve and become real good (including finding more damn mullet).

Best: Going on a holiday to Fiji and diving around some of the coral shelves in the area. Did plenty of swim-throughs, explored the caves, and reminded me of why I used to love diving so much. Prompted me to get off my ass and start diving properly again.

Worst: After going to Fiji, it made me realise how much I have fallen out with diving these past few years because of work. It was a little depressing realising how much time had past since I had gone for a proper dive with a proper buddy and had a good time.

2013: Going to have to inventory my equipment, see what needs replacing (I can't say I am not excited about new gear). Going to make a good effort to get in the water more often and train for some serious bottom time!

BEST: Moving to the gorgeous coastal town of Sawtell, allowing me to get into the water daily.

WORST: Moving away from the Brisbane Freedivers club and regular Wednesday night dynamic sessions.

2013: Lots more water time coming up, and will have a speargun in the next couple of weeks!! So looking forward to fresh fish BBQ'd on the headland with my family.

best: finally start freediving

worst: waiting about 8 months before actually able to do so, in the meantime browsing DB and seeing all the nice pics/stories.

2013: more diving, i.e. getting more comfortable for longer

@ReefTroll: According to the current temperature charts it's you who is getting BBQ'd: Bureau Of Meteorology Weather Chart | Deep Purple

Best: would probably be being able to join the norwegian team in the nordic spearfishing chapionship in Denmark.Even though I have some ethical doubts about competetive spearfishing,it was great fun, nice people and I gained alot of experience.
Worst: The weater and the resulting crap wiz.It rained pritty much everyday last summer, lets hope the next one is a bit dryer...
2013: Hopefully more diving,I have a goal of being able to comfortably dive repetedly to 20ish meters (its those pesky big cod that seemes to always stay abit deeper)Saving up for a boat. Gonna get a vacumepacker and attend more competitions ;)

2012 Best: Attending the Guernsey Spearo Meet, putting some faces to some established DB names and having an absolutely brilliant time in the short while we were over there.

2012 Worst: The weather mostly, and having to resort to pool training during the summer as the sea was too bad to dive in.

2013: The plan for this year is to get out on the kayak more and explore further afield of my main diving areas. Also, return to Guernsey for the 2013 Meet! :friday
