Are there any figures for a 24 hour static record, by one person? Is there also a record for a 1 hour static?

your way out Hayden the best stephane did was 11 min 35 and he was castigated for that imagine if he did and hour!!!! the rumours would be flying then.

Sorry don't know the real answer

The idea has been tried over the hour and the stopwatch records just the time allowed for breathing and its a remarkably short breathing time in the hour. I just wonder if its been done for 24 hours.

I did not find any 24 hr static records, but on ApneaMania, there are some 1hr records:

Succesive Apnea,
This is how long you can hold your breath "total" in one hour.

59'45", Giancarlo Bellingrath from Italy, 2002/04/28 in Napoli.
59'33", Benjamin Franz from Germany, 1999/01/11 in Germany.
59'25", Jean-Pol Francois from Belgium, 1996/11/24 in Belgium.
59'15", Didier Couver from Fance, 1994/09/18 in France.
59'10", Andy Le Sauce from France, 1994/01/20 in La Reunion.
58'35", Patrick Angelo from France, 1993 in France.
57'03", Andy Le Sauce from France, 1992/06/24 in La Reunion.

Thanks Trux. Thats exactly what I was hoping for. Now its just the 24 hour version......anyone?

I don't really understand how those records are possible.

I cannot imagine being more precise than the second, thus, as long as you get your head out of the water, it's at least for one second.

The current record means doing successive 4 minutes STA with one second breath between them !!!

As I sometimes have the chance to dive with Jean-Pol François, I will ask him how it is possible.

Although not quite exactly the same type of long term apnea, not an attempt for a record, and done with other purpose, I've just read an article about Mifsud's training where he speaks about doing series of 15 5' breath-holds with 30" recoveries in between - that makes 75 minutes of apnea in the total time of 82'30"

yeah but that one seems humanly possible. After all, as an untrained newbie, I'm able to do 5 x 2'30'' with 15'' of breathing between each of them. As my PB is still below 5 min, I'm not surprized that mifsud could do the performance you are describing. But now, ask mifsud to do 10 x 5 min with only one second between them !!!

It sounds crazy.
