Dear athletes and interested,
We are very sorry and a little sad to have to announce there will be no Dutch Apnea Open competition in Eindhoven (The Netherlands) in December 2005. Due to the building of a brand new high-tech Olympic swimming pool we can not use the “old” pool to it’s full extend: most facilities will not be available, which will make it impossible to keep up the high standard we are used to apply to this competition. This is the reason that head organizer Pim Vermeulen of Immersion decided to skip the competition this year.
Next year (December 2006) we plan to organise the 4th Dutch Apnea Open but this time in the improved pool, see attachments. This high-tech pool has a 10 lane 50 meter pool (2.20 meter deep) and at the side of this pool an 8 lane 25 meter pool with an adjustable depth to a maximum of 5 meters. The training area for our Olympic swimmers is a 4 lane 50 meter pool with a depth of 3 meters, equipped with all the technology possible to improve swimming techniques in a professional way. In the stadium there will be room for around 3000 spectators and of course all brand new facilities for athletes and public. The competition will be bigger, inviting more then 100 athletes to come to the Netherlands while we keep up our high standard of safety and fun. In the beginning of the summer 2006 we will announce the competition so you have plenty of time to subscribe and plan your trip, taking into consideration the AIDA Team World Championships that will take place in November.
In addition we would like to take the opportunity to thank all sponsors and athletes (we will have >20 nationalities) that have shown interest in this years competition and hope we can count on meeting them again in 2006!
We expect to see many of you next year!
Best regards,
Pim
