i have been working on this gun for a couple months and i finally finished it. i built it custom for a friend of a friend. it is 55" overall. 48" track neptonics tuna trigger, neptonics handle. graphite/ epoxy poured track, it was fitted with 57' x 9/32" spear,(riffe) the laminate is 6 vertical laminates plus one on the bottom, for a t- configuration. all teak. the barrel measures 1 7/8" high x 1 1/2" wide. i left room for 4 5/8 bands. the track is fully enclosed except for the last 8 inches at the muzzle , which i left open for easier loading. for the butt i used a piece of flip flop, which i glued with epoxy. the handle is teak, i hand shaped it with an orbital sander mostly. nice gun. now i need to make MYSELF a mid handle.

Nice gun JT. Love the flip flop loading pad - classic. Did you just finish it with teak oil or have you gone for epoxy or polyurethane?

Dave.

Watco teak oil only. i took epoxy and a little artist brush and coated trigger slot, line release slot, and pushrod slot . because i figured these would never get re-oiled . the rest is 4 coats of oil. i put one thick coat and let it stand for 45 minutes, then i do another coat,(applying with little chip brush) then let it sit for 15 minutes and wipe and polish vigorously with clean rag. then i take 600grit sand paper and do a wet sanding with a little oil. then polish again. wait 24 hors and repeat the wet sanding then reapply and wipe clean. It comes out smooth and nice. i really dont know how to do epoxy without getting bubbles,(i have tried) i dont know which polyurethane to use. i have been thinking about trying boat varnish. i bought an instructional video, but i havent watched it yet. i need to figure out how to do epoxy since i want to do a couple painted guns,(red camo) but the teak oil on the dark teak looks real nice.
