On 8th July, at the National Diving and Activities Centre (UK), I'm going to attempt a 60 metre freedive to mark the 60th Anniversary of Mencap.

To find out more about Mencap, the dive, and if you would like to make a contribution, please visit my Justgiving site.

All donations, big or small, will be gratefully received.

Thanks
Mark

Thanks Ben, and also everyone else who has sponsored me so far....

Only 1 week to go now, but I'm still a little short of the 60 x £10 notes I am aiming for.

It's a good opportunity to help a worthwhile cause :)

While we're on the topic, who will sponsor me drinking 60 beers in celebration of Mark's dive? :D :D :D

I will Benny B :D ... and I'll chase that challenge with 60 sips of liquid fire :friday
Man it's sizzling' out there and I'm outta ice, ice baby.
Working at the weekend sucks!
I'm sacking myself for insubordination. Freedom beckons. Wake me when I'm dead rofl

Phew! I succeeded with both targets. But not without a lot of help.

The Angels were watching out for me under the dive platform, Saltfree up at the surface, Matt Kitchen with a camera in one hand and stopwatch in the other, and the guys at the NDAC for location / transport / publicity.

Last but not least, you guys for sponsoring me.

For everyone who was there for me and Mencap, either in person, in spirit, or financially - a big, big thank you.

( If you had wanted to donate and hadn't got around to it, its not too late - just visit http://www.justgiving.com/freediving )

Well done Mark! Was a pleasure to bear witness to.

Now - to all those kind folk who sponsored by the metre..... you do realise it was 60m down, 60m back up again? :D

Congratulations Mark - a job well done!

Also congratulations to Laura, for supporting her 60m man by doing 60 minutes in the water! :)

Thanks everyone. In my rush to put a posting out, I forgot to mention that Mark, Simon and Laura had all volunteered to deco long enough to make up 60 minutes.

OK, one of them had no choice, as she was being held down, but we don't need to say which one....

So that explains all the swearing... I just assumed those bubbles weren't all from the tank :naughty

Don't worry Jedi ... nature will repay the debt - she always does :D. What bubbles Benny B? I sucked that deco gas down 'till the needle flickered empty and enjoyed every moment of my oxy high. Pleasure was mine entirely :friday

and she's been on that pink vino stuff again ... someone needs to control her bad behaviour :mute. This town ain't big enough for the both of us ... and it ain't me who's gonna leave rofl
