It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
As with many rules and their interpretation, a situation will occur which causes concern. What is good here is that the rules have been found wanting (they were a little complicated) and can now be re written to resolve the problems previously caused. Rules must always be in a state of evolution to reflect the direction the sport is going and the desires of the atheletes. When something causes such a stir as this matter, somebody has to make a judgement, and this has now been made.

In the end I say let the swimming to the talking.

But I still get angry about the "Hand of God" episode and also wonder if Henry Cooper would have been World Heavyweight champion if Ali hadnt had the luxury of a slashed glove.

Just some quick thoughts,

The several people doing work for AIDA (not just the board) do NOT live in the same house, city or country. People live all around the world, in different time zones ect. Discussions take time since you need to read previous emails, think about the issues involved and then send in your opinion. It takes more time to come to a final descision when the case is important and difficult.

Good night.

In these days of technology that should not be an issue. I have had meetings with people from several continents at the same time using tools like netmeeting, msn etc . If bandwidth allows it even visual meetings are possible. And most of these tools are for free.

Hi Glenn,

Yep, all of that works fine when everybody have good internet access.

Unfortunately that is not the case, and our people that work with AIDA have a private life, family and a full time work to manage as well. BUT we do our best and at the same time trying to keep everything as democratic and fair that is possible.

Keep up the good work Bill. You guys are definitely on the right track.
