since my original plan of glasfibreteak laminate went pearshaped, and the spear I ordered for it, came with sharkfins even though I ordered a normal I took it as a sign to make an all teak, semi enclosed track, quarterhandle"sharpshootah".
Ive rumaged around the workshop for some of my reclaimed teak. and have laminated some strips to a slim shape,my last project had sort of wings on the front for stabillity, but Ive found that its like swimming with a cano paddle, especially in a current,so not this time.I was going to try a cuttlefish shape to see how that works.

Looking good, certainly got that Sjurba look about it!
I've taken my first 2 guns apart for a few mods and re-finishing and when thats done I'll be starting a creation of my own.
What sort of finish will you be going for?

cheers! building spearguns is allmost as enjoyable as diving.
I am planning on giving it a generous soak of tung oil and leave it with that.Been fiddling with the triggerlinkage and line release, had another go at a steel trigger, but I think Ill go for a plexiglass one on this one aswell, much easier to shape...

Looks cool - I'd love to have the skills to make something like that.

What's the point of the extreme cuttlefish design? I've seen it on carbon guns, like the C4 Graphite, Nitrosub Carbon etc. What exactly do they do?

The handle looks very long or is that just me?

To be honest Im not quite shure what the cuttlefish shape does, looks cool ,and Im going to find out if there is a point to it,Ive planed of abit of it now,so its not so large. In this gun it will allso provide extra bouancy, but Im not shure if its enugh, its a slim one, hope its not so slim it breaks when I pull the rubbers! The handle is not particularily long,Im a builder so I got bigish hands, its just abit thinner than normal so its comfortable to hold with 7mm gloves on.Ill put some progress pictures up tomorrow.

Took a while to get those pictures taken, been too buissy tinkering with the speargun, well its pritty much done! All I need to do now is test it and ballance it.Wouldnt suprise me if I have to add some extra bouancy, was gonna use the router and make room in the cuttlefish shape for some styrofoam, and then glue some teak over so its invisible if needed. The pictures are not particularly good, Ill try to take some others tomorrow when there is more light. And by the way,I managed to cut the length wrong ,so its 92 not a 96,not that it matters much though.
