Hi All
Have had a crazy few months. Have changed jobs( working for a boat company now, which is pretty cool as far as jobs go), moved into a new little place after my wife told me she wanted out of the marriage. No drama, she is on a very big corporate road dealing with corporate things, and I just want to teach people about nature and the ocean, so we grew apart I guess, but thankfully we seem to be still friends.
Anyhow, to make a long story short, between packing and paperwork, moving and madness and opening new bank accounts and signing more papers and moving more boxes and hunting for a place and changing jobs and looking with longing eyes at the blue ocean every day.....I finally hit the water again on sunday, up the west coast, where i learned to dive.
The familiar smell of lather as I soaped up my suit and slipped in, the familiar walk to my entry point, as I start to slow and regulate my breathing pattern.
The cold embrace of the West Coast Atlantic as I slide in over the kelp fronds and taste the wonderful salted ocean for the first time in ages. The gods were smiling on me, as I slip under to see sunlight dancing between the hardly moving kelp forests, viz of at least 12-15 meters, and a fluorescent mix of reds and oranges as the crayfish and star fish seem to appear in the gullies to welcome me home. I glided silently to about 12 meters and the base of the gully, and to my amazement, felt so comfortable with the sea, that I began to smile as I though it may be the oceans way of saying "glad to see you again, today, you may feel at home down here.."
All to soon, I was driving home to Capetown.
After weeks of frustration, it was good to be free...I do'nt think Ive seen a brighter sun, or dived in a blue'er sea.
