We had another fatal Great White attack on Saturday, a Young skipper ( 23) of a charter boat was taken while he was snorkling with clients in shallow water off the Abrolhos Islands . ( of Western Australia ) The Shark was belived to be a 5 -6 metre Great White but it could have been a Tiger which are common in those waters.
The Abrolhos island are a large group of islands and attols about 100 ks of the mid west coast , they are renound for great fishing , diving , and large commercial cray fish industry.
There are allot more Charters going up there in the past few years so heaps of more people are entering a zone which has a very large fish and shark population.
The news papers are calling it a ''Monster from the deep' and the Usuall arquments for killing the Shark or Protecting it are surfacing.
Its a very Sad and Unlucky event but with more tourism brings a increased risk of it happening and happening again.
We have had about 3-4 fatel attacks ( and heaps of near misses ) of the West Australian over the last couple of years and it scares heaps of people out of the water so our Scuba diving and assioated industries ( spear fishing ) are in for a Quiet time.
Its not good for anyone especially for the young guy that was taken and his family but its a risk that we all take even more of a risk for the Spearos, but we love our sport and its a part of it.
Sorry for the bad spelling but im at work so its done in a rush.
My condoleneces to the people that new him
