Aloha or Kia ora as you guys might put it.

Im heading down to New Zealand for some time coming this next January of 2011. My wife and I spent a little over a month there a few years ago and absolutely loved it. The people, the culture, the hospitality all seem to be very similar to what Hawaii used to be like. We plan on buying a van and spending at least 3 months there, and upwards of 6.

All that being said, I was wondering if there is anyone on this board who would be willing to bestow some local knowledge or go on a few dives with me while I am there. Doesnt really matter where you are as we will be mobile and plan on spanning the entire country, or as close to it as we can. We have no plans, we are going to go with the flow.

I am an experienced freediver. My comfort level is from 20ft any where down to 120. I am comfortable in just about any situation you could put me in in the ocean (sharks, bad weather, high seas) I take safety very seriously and more so conservation and proper species selection. Which is why I would love to head out with some other experienced local spearos. Id be more than willing to provide gas, food, and good company! And if your ever out in Hawaii I would be more than happy to return the favor.

Or any recommendations for some "off the beaten path" activities would be highly appreciated. Feel free to PM me if you prefer it.

Thank you
Jake
