As a veteran journalist, I really dig the quote he gave:
Desmond Hatchet, the 29 years old man with 21 kids
Desmond Hatchett is a 29 years old man from Tennessee who has no less than 21 children. He went to court last week after his name appeared 11 times on the docket in a day, representing 15 children, all his.
“It just happened,” Desmond Hatchett said. He didn’t intend to set a record, but he did all his children by mistake. He also claims that all the 11 women knew about his other kids.

I don't know, but if he continues at this rate, the probability of a close encounter with a cousin will increase)

I heard about this on the radio the other day. Oh, my! I wonder if he remembers all his kids names and how he manages to spend time with him and their moms and still meets new people to make more along the way!!

Perhaps I could learn a thing or two from him regarding people and time management skills...

How many of the women were his cousins?

Take a look at that key at the bottom left.

Good Lord! And he was Catholic. Didn't the Vatican object?

There is a good Russian movie about Baron Munghausen, in which the priest concedes to the baron - who is insisting on a divoce so that he cantie the knot with his beloved one - that, yes, sometimes the Church would allow kings to divorce and marry another woman if "it is what one needs "continue the (royal) line". to that Munghausen responds: "one needs something totally different to continue the line"

Presumably not. Henry VIII married his brother's widow (the bible does not approve of it) with special permission from the Pope but then used it as grounds for annulment later!

I guess that's the danger in breeding pedigrees of any species. I believe the idea is that you should not allow defective offspring to breed - bit tricky if the offspring happens to be King. There has been a big backlash against show dogs in the UK lately because of the freakishly deformed dogs that have been winning dog shows lately - ones that can't see because of skin folds, or can't breath properly because of missing snouts. The outcome being that the BBC will no longer televise the famous (and recently infamous) Crufts dog show. There was also a rumour in the newspapers last week that the Queen was going to stop breeding her Corgis and Dorgis (which are a dwarf strains) - apparently they're not that popular with other family members. Perhaps the controversy is a factor too.

There are a number of dog breed associations in the U.S. that refuse to even apply for AKC recognition because they're afraid that their breed will be ruined by the show queens. Ever been to a dog show? There are some very dubious persons involved, like women whose dogs have been bathed and groomed twice since the owner/handler was. :hmm Cat shows are even worse. The weirdest people I ever met, in San Francisco no less, were at a cat show. I get chills from the memory!

Oldsarge , I went to a dog show once , you're right , they were the weirdest group of people I've ever come across , really quite creepy , brrrr .
