yesterday i had the privillege to be part of the first team wich took the first lesson in freediving, in the first organized session of freediving in romania!
under the supervise of serge [sergiu], who is AIDA instructor, the first 8 students, took the first theoretical lesson, after that we went at the pool to practice static and dinamic apneea...
for me yesterday was great, not only because this beginning, but because i was able to break my old record in static [2:20'] with a new-one [3:08']
i-m very happy!!!
perhaps this the beginning of a speciall apneea movement in our country....
on the 15 of may we will go at DAHAB to definitivate our course with the CWT exam....

Indeed, we've got, finally, the critical mass to see a small yet enthusiastic freediving movement in Romania. We hope that it will soon end up in having the AIDA Romania started soon as well.

Great result Vali, in the first static session a new personal best that is here to live very short i suspect, a 4min is around the corner.

Time to start AIDA Romania :) There is a Romanian girl in our club here in Lyon, so if you launch the Romanian AIDA branch, I am sure she'll join too. At least being one of few Romanians who participate in AIDA and FFESSM competitions, she'd have chance to have her performances perhaps registered as national records :)

Great news, we are really short on freediving mermaids! Just one rather curious than practising girl locally, so she is more than welcome. please send me her contact information to drop an email

If you have an APNEA.cz account, you can send her a PM there (Vali has an account there, but I am not sure at you). Her ID is Liana:

APNEA.cz - User Profile

If not, I'll have to ask her for permission before sending her email address.

Thanks, yes i have an account since 2007 or so! great statistics, great site.

There are also some other Romanian freedivers, so if you really plan launching some association, you can contact them by PM too:

RO @ APNEA.cz

(the ones with names in Italic did not complete their registration, hence also did not enter their email address yet, so you can't contact them)

here some footage tooked at one of the trainning session....
tha water are clear, but the bottom of the pool was dirty because the ronovation in progress
normaly this pool is not open yet, but sergiu was able to do some reservations...
i appologise if the appeareance of the pool will ofend your eyes...
i hope that, if a romanian federation of freediving is to come, this will be a good beginning to start building a proper logistic in romania...

so...the footage

thank you very much princess...

...i saw 8 kg white snaper in freediving...i saw 16 kg napoleon fish in freediving....i saw moray thick as my hips in freediving...i saluted scuba groups in freediving...i saw the mecca of freediving...the blue hole...i read on his stones , that is not good to let the fear stand in the way of your dreams.....
a single breath is all that you take with you downthere.....
when you leave the surface, this breath is the only link with the outside....the rest are your problems and they stay stooked on your weight belt....
if you came back at the surface, it means your problems are on the bottom of the sea and the single breath is still with you....

Sounds like you had a blast and eye opening experience freediving in Egypt! Another sweet big impression that will stay with you forever.

From the video I see you people tent to move rather fast, like playful seals. It's cool and I like it to. Recently though I'm slowing down and making my propulsion more energy efficient. You can check out one of my dives on the "http://forums.deeperblue.com/freediving-science/86127-how-flow-freediving.html" thread.
The lighting in the video was cool, very mysterious! Which person in the video is you?

I bet you've learned a ton of things in Egypt and that helped you transition your freediving to a deeper level, very nice!

Love, Courage and water,

Kars
