I guess this discussion fits best, however mods: if not, feel free to move this thread! :blackeye

1st of all let me say it feels really good to be back and see that this forum still is the safe haven for freedivers around the globe.
It's also very nice to see that all those familiar names - spaghetti, trux, ericrp, mr whelan and of course the ever lovely island_sands- are still here. I hope you (and all I didn't mention of course) are all well and diving happily......

The reason for my long silence was that I had some pleasant, and some very unpleasant things happen in my personal live over the last 2 to 3 years, that made me unable to focus on anything more than my family and my work (Read parents passing very close after each other, but on the joy side: getting a foster kid!). But hey, things settle, life forces us to go on, and breathing gets boring, so it's time to get my face wet and go down again.

And so I started with the tables again, and - enter endomondo - running, to get myself to fit in my elios again..... (about 10kg to go....:friday)
For those of you that don't know endomondo, it's a sporting app (the free version is fine) you can run on your phone that keeps track of your performances and times, can shout you to the finish of your workout, and even keeps track of the songs you played while running, cycling or whatever. And I thought it would be nice if the freedivers over here who use that app also would connect to each other as friends, so we can all benefit from each others workouts. I created a team you can join call freedive!, so if you like, I'll see you there!. (Still looking for a nice freediving picture that i can legally use....) It's just an idea, let me know what you all think.

On to the C4 Wahoos.....
To get me going I need something to work to, like a target. So the Aeris F10 was an easy pick, but since a new F10 is coming, waiting might be a better option I guess? And since I always wanted to try those wicked C4 soccer-shoe-like-laced-footpockets, I started looking for some cheap (i'm dutch ) C4's to challenge my waterway nemo's. Stumbled upon the Wahoo, but have 2 questions:

1 I've read multiple times now the: good at 10 -18 meters..... Is that true? Impossible to come back up from lets say 30 meters with these on?
2 You can choose between brown and black blades, I'm 195 and :hmm (ahumahum102kgahum). Brown or black?

So, thanks for your time, again nice to be back, and now I'm off to search for my maorisub blades in the sales corner. I'm going to up them again, should be the oldest active sales tread on the forum by now! :head

Greetings from Holland!

Hi Yaffle,

Welcome back! Are you sure about those fins. I think what you really want ;-) is the DOL-fin Orca ( Smith Aerospace - Products ). It will match you classic Liquivision watch (that I might steal/buy of you the first time you're not looking ) perfectly.

cheers
Eric

having come up from 40 m with my very soft Imersion E-carbons and having to trouble doing it, I think the wahoos may do a tad better than 18 m.

It is all in perception.

At the Pacific Cup in Kona in 2002, Martin Stepanek did 70 m with eastern european rubber fins, and had no problem except that he wasn't allowed to go any deeper.

I know other divers who swear that you can't drop below the surface with anything softer than Picasso Black Teams.

Personally, I like them soft. I use them with more of a push kick, and they work fine for me. The Wahoos should be the same, or maybe even better.

@eric Thanks mate, your always tip me on the right goods. Do you think I can follow you with these dol-fins on? I remember the last time we dove together my eardrum burst :crutch.
But love to dive with you again as soon as my elios fits again :head, shall we plan a day? You might borrow the F if you train with me a bit....

@hteas thanks for the reply. My waterways are medium, and I hope the Wahoo are just a tad harder. Does anybody know the difference between the brown and black blades?

Cheers
Yaffle

Hi Yaffle,

Sure we can dive together. The first session we would be better of playing around the bus at -8--10 meter. Let´s not do the eardrum thingy again this year.

I sure hope someone in the Netherlands will buy a DOL-fin because I would love to try it out!

I prefer diving on weekdays until 2pm except on wednesday.

cheers,
Eric

P.S. for getting into contact with many more (dutch) freedivers it´s easiest to befriend them on facebook.
