In your opinion the exercises for the abdominal muscles (like crunch) are good for apnea (static or dinamic)? My doubt is that strengthening the abdominals too can tighten the abdomen and make diaphragmatic contractions more painful. What do you say?

Hi!

You need abs for good monofin technique, and all over body control in the water.
I do not think it is a problem to build strong muscles as long as you combine your muscle work with stretching! Doing yoga alongside your muscle development work will stop the kind of tightness you seem to refer to.

I've never had any diaphragm cramps, that might be because I don't hold my breath long enough, but on saturday I did my longest dive at 1.45 and then 3mins after that did another 1.40 beating my previous longest dive by 23seconds. I don't train like I used ton but still have very strong abdominals. Is it not possible that strengthening your abs will help control the spasms?

hmmm... i'm no researcher on these things, but in my experience contractions are individual and varying, and muscles don't help or make it worse..
