Killer, thats wonderful. Any goods dives out in Dubai? I hear not because of all the dredging. But I hear good things about wrecks.

hey there
we might be looking to start diving again in May... one of my mate's (girl) and myself. i'll off again to Egypt in two weeks but on my return we are going to be looking for dives.... drop me a PM and we can exchange numbers

Hey there !
I'm living in Abu Dhabi .. the thing is I'm a beginner freediver, although a master scuba diver. I would love freediving Corrupted_Diver .. count me in, specially if sands will be with us ! ...

Can any of you give any advice on hunting in the UAE? I'll be there in a month and looking for someone to hook up with to do some spear fishing. Interested in free diving/coast fishing for now. Not Padi cert, but will be after a year or so living there.

THanks!
Axel

island sands, for sure. Ill pm you some time early May!

adolphin, let me know when ever you want to dive or freedive

axbromley, its illegal in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. I believe you can in the rest of the emirates so long as you limit your hunting to personal consumption. Basically dont kill all the fish in the vicinity.

Thanks for the information. I'll steer clear of Abu Dhabi. I was looking more towards the UAE side of the Omani border. Have you ever dived up there? I am definately only looking to put a few fish on the table for the kids every now and again.

axbromley .. Oman side is fantastic ..! .. I've dived Ras Masandam .. it's amazing .. you can see an awsome aquatic life from as shallow as 2 meters ! .. snorklers don't realy need to skindive they can watch from the surface ! .. well I was SCUBA diving that few times .. I would love to freedive Masandam ! .. BTW .. on our way back we always come across dolphins ! usually bottlenose .. sometimes hamback .. and once white dolphins !

Adolphin,

Great man! I am getting more excited to get over there than I already am, if that is possible. I really look forward to doing some dives up there. I am not PADI cert yet, but will be this summer, so I am looking forward to going out there when I am. I have swam with killer whales in Seattle, but never dolphins. I'd love to have that experience!

in regards to spearo, I had heard that it was illegal to hunt on the Omani side though. I am interested in doing some of that in addition to just diving, but obviously I don't want to wind up in an Omani jail! Have you heard anything about this? There are so many perfect rock islands up there, I am sure it would be to die for!

I'm not sure about the spearfishing axbromley, I'm not into it anyway, but I know that Oman government is so much into environment , same as here in UAE specially Abu Dhabi, got to ask an expert man ..
about dolphins, we never tried swiming or diving with them, I believe they are still too shy to interact with us when ever the dhaw stops, so we get them as we are sailing
if you are interested in diving Ras Masandam, drop sands a line, I understand they are arranging such trips from time to time .. she has a post on this thread under the name " island_sands " ..
