My gun (sommap sportline) doesn't have anywhere I can attach the floatline too. I want to put a loop (crafted from some sort of plastic) onto the bottom of the handle.

Is epoxy the best way to go?

Thanks.

Could you not just tie some braided nylon in a clove hitch or constrictor knot around the handle or around the loading pad? Do you have a picture of the back end of the gun for us to see?

There is no neck on the loading pad and when in use my hand completely fills the handle.....hang on - i'll get a pic.

Pic would be good, but how about drilling a small hole in the corner of the loading pad and putting a SS split ring though it to tie your line to?

I'd need to see a pic as well, but maybe... On the back edge of the handle about 1/4 to 1/2" from the bottom, drill a hole down toward the bottom of the handle at about a 45 degree angle. Then run a dyneema or other cord through and tie it into a loop that you can clip to.

EDIT: Found a pic and did a quick lil illustration of what I meant. the red line would be the drill line, yellow...the loop.

Edit 2: But looking at the pic closer... If you drill on that back edge, ther is prolly a seem. Maybe go through halfway from that bolt and the back edge and drill from one side to the other?

There appears to be a hole in the bottom of the handle in those photos. Plenty of scope for tying off on the loading pad

Pastor mate, thats not his gun, its ILDivers demonstration. :)

I'm not getting anything out of that link Mart?

That picture wasn't there when I posted, I was looking at the link foxfish posted. I can see now what looked like a hole is a bolt

Oh right, sorry mate. I've got modem trouble, its only letting me into selected sites  (fortunately this is one!) so the link is probably fine Mart.

Thank you all for your help.

The flanged loading pad in the pic isn't there on my model so the cable tie idea around it wouldn't work. And your right - what looks like a hole in the pic is actually a bolt.

Ildiver - there is a seem there, did you mean drill thru the sides of the handle?

This forum is amazingly informative and friendly.

Thank again.

As long as the handle is solid, not hollow, I'd go with Ildiver. Presume the line will get in the way if you attach it to the trigger guard?

Yeah, I'd say if the handle is solid or a very thick mold drill the handle, its possibility of being hollow is why I would stay away from the seam. Mine is a solid piece of plastic and completely different.

But my second thought was going through parallel to the bolt there, about half way towards the back. A clean hole should be plenty strong and in off the bottom the same distance as the bolt, it should have enough material to keeps it's integrity. I'm guessing if it's hollow it's not water tight as it is currently so a hole would not hurt. You could possible take the two halves apart and fill that area with epoxy and smooth the two sides so it all fits back together clean and smooth, then drill it through that epoxied section.

I'll try to illustrate my ramblings...hold please :) -- Added below. If it were me, I may be a little more adventurous than others, I would fill with epoxy or some sort of resin (gray area), then drill where the white circle is in the gray. The cord would only be maybe 2mm, so the hole can be maybe 4mm or so I'd guess.
