Howdy all,

New to the boards and new to spearing. I was born and raised in Florida (Gulf Coast) and I've been fishing on and off all my life - much more seriously in the last 3 or 4 years. Now, it's a lifestyle. Talking with my old man about his days on the water put the itch in me to dive however I can - freediving, scuba, whatever. I just want to get in the water and be. But, the hunter in me said that I have to have a goal, so I discovered spearfishing this summer. I've only polespeared so far, but, more to come. A friend of mine gave me a JBL Competition Magnum that needed some love. I replaced the barrel, put on the bands, and now it's a sweet little first time gun. A little overkill for where I am, but I'm not worried.

Looking forward to getting some good info and pestering the veterans around here for knowledge.

-Nux
