Hi people,
I have bought a second hand Waterways monofin (model 1, long distance), but the footpocket is a size too big. Is there a known technique for adjusting the footpocket size? The fin hasn't arrived yet, so wearing 3mm neoprene socks may be sufficient to make it fit, I don't know yet. I am told that the glue is a thermoplastic, so technically all I need to do is warm it. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Cheers,
Lachlan

Lachlan, did You get any info on this? My fin is just fine, but I won't be needing socks where I'm going, so I'd like to do the same thing.

Unfortunately I never found out properly how to do it. I heard talk of people heating the glue and separating the pieces, then regluing with some sort of rubber glue. Contact glue might work, or possibly the type of glue in bicycle tyre repair kits. Good luck, you might just have to put up with wearing socks.

LachlanWA,

I was advised to use Tip Top 4, lorry tire glue.
I remember I have opend up my footpockets some 4,5 years ago, and glued them back together at my preferred size. I don't remember if I warmed them up, but I could peal them open slowly millimeter for millimeter.

I'm sure a local finswimmer coach could awser your questions.

Love, Courage and Water,

Kars
