Adjusting equipment for warm 80F/27C water?

I'm accustomed to water in the 58F-63F / 14C-18C range. In a short two weeks I'll be jetting off to Florida for my first experience diving in water warmer. It looks like the air will be above 90F/32C and water 80-82F/27-28C.

My plan was to dive in just a lycra rashguard or maybe my 2mm neoprene T-shirt, so no buoyancy from my clothing. I presume that I won't need any sort of weights for diving in the 10 meter range.

Is this correct?

Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim,

Welcome warm and warmer Florida.

The rashguard will be fine for an hour or so. use the 2mil for longer dives, even 82 gets cool after a long period. I get cold easy and use a 1 mill Riffe, short leg with hood for 2-3 hour sessions in 81 degrees. I'm cold by the end.

Weighting is too individual to call, but I think you will probably need a little. I wear 2 lb for 20-30 m diving with no suit, neutral at 10 m. For diving in 10 m, I'd prefer at least 4 lb, so I was a little negative on the bottom.

Have fun,

Connor

27c !!! You lucky man. It's just the start of winter here and the snow is on the hills. Still, I have a dive planned this weekend. I will wearing my 6.5mm scuba suit with a 2mm shirt underneath and maybe a polypro top as well.
I'd say all you need are speedos.:t
