Pretty new to freediving but have been an occasional spearfisher for 11 years now. I have always had some trouble with equalizing my left ear even though I can clear my ears easily out of the water hands free. In the past I could also easily clear my ears hands free in the water. I recently did the FII level 1 course but increased problems in my left ear from the last year or so prevented me from being able to complete the course as I was not able to equalize on the way down most of the time. Furthermore on the few ascents I had some really loud squeeking, squelching sounds going on in my left ear with some discomfort. I am concerned that I may be at risk of reverse squeeze. It feels like my left Eustacchian tube is permanently constricted somehow. I live in Central America so I don't think I have access to very good specialists in this field but maybe there are some tests I could do locally that would shed some light and I can work out what I need to do to be able to freedive again!
