We have a Pajero and its a lovely car to drive - nice and solid on the road...and you feel reasonably safe driving around on these Cypriot roads!

Have a look at the VW Touareg. its Wicked, go for the V10 turbo Diesel a friend has one and it oooooooooooooooooooooozes power and comfort not to say it looks so sexy. :) :) :)

Your elimination will be down to road car luxury refinement or good 4x4 performance with luxury refinement in the cabin as backup.
Nissan Patrol - very good old school 4x4 with upgraded styling now. Nissans cheaper maintenance at service.
Nissan Pathfinder - vehicle superb petrol V6 is good powerful engine, but don't touch the 2.5 dCi version as it's mismatched to the vehicle. V6 diesel is eagerly awaited.
Merc - old ML's have some poor reviews and a friend who is a merc service team leader said the disks and pads wear out quickly and are very expensive to replace along with other services. HOWEVER, the new 2005 ML apparently has been reborn and is about to take class colours.
Pajero - cant comment, but there is loads of car magazine road tests going back years.
My 2bit
cheers

for the harsh weather un dubai, i would say that either a Pajero, the Nissan Patrol, or the Toyota Landcruiser are the best options. the pajero has better gas mileage than the other two, the patrol is kinda stiff, and the toyota is the king of the dunes ...

People have forgotten their kids at gas stations, too. :D

Having rolled around parts of Africa in a Land Cruiser, I recommend them. Admittedly, we were using the diesal, 4x4, pickup version with the spotting seat up high in the rear and rifle racks both on top and inside but I have to admit that they are durable little devils. Unfortunately, Toyota won't send them stateside . . . not expensive enough!! :(

Adrian that's hiliarious!!

Sarge we use landcruisers on site too.. sooped up for protection of course!

hmmm... will have to get the drawing board out again.. i refuse to buy a Prado though... :yack

My diving buddy and cousin have pajero and they never let them down :)

...how about one of these?....made for a Sheikh in silver

Toyota also had a string of FJ40 variants in South America called the Bandierante. It's got a Mercedes Benz turbodiesel (which I fully believe to be indestructable...at least on my old 300D)

Sands, I'm not sure if your carriage would be in compliance with UAE emissions laws....You might have to get an aftermarket pooper-scooper for the pull-horses.
