OMD i also bought my ice fins from scubaland. I hope mine dont snap, i've well and truely learnt my lesson on this one. Pay £10/ £15 more and buy reasonably local from an English speaking company.

It's the first I've heard of ice fins breaking. Mine have been very thoroughly used down to 3c water and -13c, bashed on limestone breakwalls, nudged by bass, flensed by zebra mussels and shipped by plane in soft baggage.

I've heard several cases of Ice blades breaking, almost all near the screws. However it's a very low percentage of cases on the thousands of fins they're selling, Omer recently worked out a new version with clips instead of screws. Jon recently posted pics of the new version.

Yes thanks spaghetti. Meant to reply straight away to say thanks as I took your advice and just posted the fin off to the french address. Didn't bother to email Omer direct. I'll wait and see what happens. Might ask for your help again if i don't hear anything in a week or two. My blade snapped right in the middle. Just br0ke cleanly as I was swimming.

When the Ice fins first came out, 'bout 7 years ago I think, lots of them were breaking around the screw area; I know a few UK spearos were mighty pissed off about it. I thought they had rectified things with subsequent generations?

It's a totally different thing. The old Ice were a failure as you said correctly, but the present Ice are made with a totally different material (made in germany): it's not the same fins any more, ti's a different product. Some are breaking but, for now, it's a very small amount on the total sold, as said.
I must confess I was a bit discouraged from buying them, and I havent' done yet. But they're still on top of my wish list as long as I can get hold of the newest type with the clip instead of the two screws...

I have eventually got a replacement blade from Scubaland (8 weeks) and as in the link in the last post it is slightly different. There's no screw holes and a lug moulded on the end instead, see Chris's pics in the link. I will get the tools out and convert it to match the existing so it fits the foot pockets. The holes although not drilled are marked. Also note that the new blade is date stamped. Mine says 4/07.
