AIDA New Website

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Hello Frank,

It's not just the format. Many more changes have happened but maybe Bill is more qualified to tell you more about it.

Thanks for the good words.

Hit refresh...Helped for me :)

I hear that even more than the appearance, the site has changed "under the hood". It's much more dynamic and allows the relevant people to make quick and easy updates on content, where as the old one I guess was more or less a static page, which required a web-specialist to make any updates.

That's just the impression I get, but maybe Bill can fill us in on the details...

Looks good! Now just keep those updates coming!

Loads has been happening in AIDA in the last few weeks - the new website is fantastic - a whole lot easier for us on the board to work with and a lot more interesting for the outside world to view too as we can update the info much more easily.

Also this week - the backlog of AIDA certification cards has finally been cleared when, three months later, I got the card printer to work! In the last seven days I have posted around 280 cards - so yours should be on your door mat soon!

yeah yeah right! rofl rofl
;) ;)

If I wore a hat, it would be off to you Sam :) These are huge leaps forward and I don't even want to imagine the effor that went into making all those cards!

And also to Bill, who seems to have taken AIDA to a totally new era. Things are not perfect yet either, but they sure are better. And most important of all, constantly improving!

AIDA really will rock next year - really strong committee with loads of energy and enthusiasm to make things happen. Lots going on with training, world cup next year, everyone going record-crazy, watch this space. It's exciting (and tiring!) being a part of it!

jome is that you in your avatar?

Looks like the AIDA Website has either had a billing problem or have exceeded bandwidth.

island_sands: oh, I hadn't noticed your question. Sadly, it is indeed me :)

What's wrong with the site? seems to work for me...

Well, since www.aida-international.org is down again just like it seems to be the case more often in the last months (or is it the permanent state now?), and since the domain is actually just redirecting to another server (hotweb.se) that is still operational, I wonder if it would not be worth of finally fixing the DNS records and pointing the domain directly to the hotweb.se server. It is a question of about a minute of work. It will not only avoid such unpleasant accidents with inaccessible website, and speed up the access, but it will also look more serious and professional. It is does not really look well, when such a big international organization has to redirect their website domain to an anonymous no-name mass host.

I also posted a comment about national AIDA websites, where the situation is often even worse (numerous completely dead or non-existing websites). If you dare about reading it, it is in the old thread New website AIDA Netherlands

If they are truly having problems with their web host they should aim to move to a reliable server.

The problem is not really in the actual hosting, but caused by the fact that the domain name aida-international.org is not pointed directly to the server with the content, but rather just redirected. I really do not understand why they do not point the DNS records of the domain at their registrar directly to their web server in Sweden.

The website is on the actual address of http://www.hotweb.se/aspportal1/code/page.asp?ObjectID=8&CountryID=4&actID=3, on the IP address of 212.105.78.40 in Sweden, while aida-international.org is pointed to the IP address 74.52.42.100, which is located in Dallas, Texas, USA, at ThePlanet.com. This means each time you request a page from AIDA's website, you first need to contact the US server that then tells you to download the actual page from Sweden. And believe me, this is really not a good way to set up a domain.
