aiming by shark fin vs notch

what the difference when aiming by shark fin spear and notched spear ?shark fin keep the rubber in high position compared to notched ,I asked because i switched to shark fin and my shots is not accurate
 
RA recommend aiming down the side of your railgun/speargun, rather than along the top - in which case the style of spear notch should not make any difference.
 
I tried and missed a big fish i like to shoot in the classic way ,do u have illustrated sketch for your aiming may be I misunderstand the technique

I most be a odd fellow. I tried for a long time to learn and aim my RA's from the side when i started spearing. But i've ended up doing it from above all the time since it was the only way i could get constant precision. I just find the high edges on the open muzzle perfect for aiming horizontal on parts of the fish and the vertical part of the aiming i guess have become more of feeling or instinct.

I actually lost alot of fish for a few weeks because i really tried to go back to learn from the side as recommended by Rob.

But if the rubbers are stacked higher as OP's and blocking the sight above the rifle i think aiming from the side would be much more effective


OP; If you have access to a pool for som target practice maybe you should do that to try figure out if it's the aim or something else. There could also be something else that is causing the problem.

That aiming technique I described was a long time ago, pre rail guns
We used to also turn the non rail gun on its side, gangster style

With rail gun barrels now being the most common this sideway shooting can’t be done.

Since writing that aiming technique I found it very difficult to teach so went back to conventional, over the top aiming.

Fins should not make any difference.

So great Rob that you spend time on the diffrent forums out there and always clearing things up when you have the time for it!

I guess i can stop feeling odd for preferring aiming over the top on your guns lol!
 
I have contact him but the only available is mini shark fin /regular notch spear ,both can't use for deep wood track ,if u will send something to here let me know as I need 5 different sizes from your tough spear
