Airbalete 110

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
When I swam the gun through the kelp, the reel would hook on stringers. The green hard pack tuna line in image 3 will serve 3 functions.
1.Blend a little old school texture into all the metal and composite.
2.Help shield the reel from kelp stringers hooking.
3.Keep the reel and gun together should the reel tangle or hook a loop and be detached from the gun by a large fish.

Image 4 is just for Matt. I do not hunt with lasers, just a pool training aid I built 25 years ago.
Cheers, Don Paul

Freakin' Awesome Don!! I new I wasn't going to be the first with the laser! :head

I'd like to see the mounting and hardware used for your light pointer of yours .... me want bad!! I'll post some new pics once I finish the fiber optic stuff...

The machine work on the reel seat looks top notch tooo!!

:friday
Cheers, Matt

Matt.... Lasers are so 20 years ago.

It's a Omer part # SPRr01001. I used a thin CF shim to get the tight fit I wanted, and I moved the reel to the rear so I can push on the line brake with my index finger. I need to finish sanding my game gun.... back later.

I have a quick question. Those round brackets that you attach the reel to, are they removable ?

How about the little piece that you slide the reel ?

I believe the reel mount bits are specific to Airbalete, the male part of the slide joint mounts sandwiched between the the thick barrel clamp which
lays in a deep grove the the barrel. The male joint has a thin pin that engages the female ring/barrel end.

I would look to the Reel One catalog for a more stout fitment to use.

Cheers, Don

So the male part is part of the barrel like on the band guns.

The reason I am asking is have an extra omer reel that I want to install on a wodden gun, and I as checking wether I can get just the male part to screen into the wodden gun, then slide the reel.

No, it is attached to the clamp at the front and pins into the rear barrel joint.
I would not use any Airbalete bits on a wooden gun. ( light duty use, not built
stout).

Omer has a Race 90 mounted to their wood gun (Cobra). I would look to their
accessories page in the catalog, or to the reel One catalog.
Cheers, Don

Thanks Don !

On the cobra, the male part is built into the trigger sinse it is the excalibur trigger.

On that picture the male part is not there, I assume this kit is not the airbalete kit.

Correct, I did not take images of the Airbalete male rail when I had it off.
I have the metal female bracket SPRR01001 repositioned all the way to the
rear on my gun as to engage the barrel keying and not depend on the pin mounted composite male piece.

Great thread on the 110, but I need something much shorter for spearing around here.

Does anyone have much experience with the Airbalete 80? Do they make anything smaller? If I'm going with such a short gun does it even make sense to drop the big bucks on an Airbalete, or would picking up a 70cm Spark be a better choice?

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but was wondering about crossing back over to the dark side.

Jon

Jon, from my real life visual impression of the Airbalete 100, it is overall as long as a 75cm euro bandgun (or a very little bit more from "eye measurement"). A 90 should be as short as a Cayman 65 etc etc etc. I just warn you the shorter Airbaletes are said to be a bit wrist heavy.

Is it worth it?
Are your C4 Mustangs worth it, compared to any 100 bucks fins? Is your Elios custom suit worth it, compared to any 120 bucks wetsuit? Yes the high end price gear performs better. But the price is 3 times higher, while the technical performance is better, but not 3 times better. Other factors influence the choice of top of the range, latest technology, advanced design.
And I guess you know better than myself ;-)

So the airbalete 80cm would be the same length as a Cyrano 700? I've tried to find actual dimensions on-line, but haven't succeeded as of yet.

Jon

I lean to think so, with a couple of + centimeters as approximation.

You could drop a line to Mark L. and ask him how the Airbalete 80 compares in length to an Omer Tempest 70. He's supposed to know it exactly.

Hi Jon, I only have experience with the larger air guns over 100cm.
I have had very fast service by contacting Mark L. through my local dive shop with parts shipment and Omer info. I'll ask your question Tue and get back to you.
Cheers, Don

I thought all air guns were measured by their total length?
How long is your gun Don?
