I read the "Dummies Guide to Rigging a Speargun" and found it very informative and entertaining. I read it twice, and some parts even more. Thanks to all of you that contributed to it.

My one question was with regard to an all bunglee shooting line. Pages 7 and 8 discuss it, and pictures are promised, but I never saw any. http://forums.deeperblue.com/threads/dummies-guide-to-rigging-a-speargun.64504/page-7#post-714020

Is anyone still using this setup? I've only spearfished a little, and that was with a mono shooting line, which worked great. However I like the idea of this bungee line.

If you are using it, could you post a picture, and maybe a description of how you are attching the line to the gun and spear?

Thanks a bunch!

PS - I'm not asking about my specific target locations, but if you are wondering, the plan is to fish Alaska (a little brrrrrr...) and Hawaii, mostly near reefs. I've got no bluewater plans.

If you've been diving with a mono shooting line fastened to the gun, then you have no use for an all-bungee FLOAT LINE. Ive never heard of an all-bungee shooting line.

If you are shooting big blue water fish, then you might want to have your mono (or cable) shooting line attached to a breakaway float line.

And if you are shooting REALLY BIG blue water fish (tuna or marlin?) then you might want to have that breakaway float line be all-bungee. But even then you might not.

Keep it simple and use gear appropriate to your diving. When its no longer appropriate, you'll realize that.

I tried it for one & a bit seasons - it works fine but I don't recommend it. I believe SettingSteel uses/used bungee spear line too. The problem I found was that the rubber deteriorates quite quickly, it's probably only good for one season of moderate use. Mine broke - fortunately I was able to find the shiny Omer spear - probably would have lost it if I had been using a less conspicuous RA spear.

Thanks for both of the responses. This is what I thought may have happened since there was a flurry of discussion about it, then it all went away. SettingSteel doesn't seem to have posted on here for quite a while, otherwise I would have just PMed him directly.

So now I just have to decide if I want a reel or not!
