some of you have noticed you don;t see to much of me on here any more, well I've been a little busy. 6 days a week, 8am - 6pm I'm learning to fly helicopters while pursuing my Commercial Pilots Licence. I come back metally and physically drained (classroom and flight time every day) and pretty much pass out, leaves little time for Deeperblue, but I'm trying to keep up! it's the most fun and challenging class I've ever taken, I love it! here a few pics.....

I heard that it is quite though to make it stay still :D

Be careful bro, dont try to shoot something from the window :)

Yo Amphibious, good work sir. I know a few heli pilots and they say its hard work to get your ticket but when you do its very worth while.
Good luck sir.
Keep your powder dry:)
Paul

That's awesome Colin. When I was in Whitehorse I went up in a heli and we following dogsled teams crossing the lakes during the Yukon Quest. Very cool experience. I certainly felt closely to the air than in a cesna or whatever.

Hope you get your wings, or "rotor blades" or whatever they call it...

Pete

Go hard brother. It'll pay off in more ways than one I'm sure!
Erik

It already has Erik ;)

thanks for the support guys. My hover is comming along, no where near perfect yet, but better every day, hardest part seems to be my transitions to forward flight, that little R22 is one squirly machine! 6hours in, 94 to go, should have it all down by then ;)

was following a bush road the other day, weaving my way around the forest, maybe 500' AGL, smoke from buring slash piles was blowing in the cabin, had CCR playing my head..... all that was missing was a door gunner and a some tropical heat :D

For all the years I soldiered, I avoided flapwings like the plague. I nearly lost my favorite company commander and first shirt when one went down on a training flight and that soured me on them completely. However, my bro-in-law had many hours in Jolly Greens in the "smoke and tropical heat" even surviving a crash that was not in Cambodia, whatever you may have heard . . . and that's Official! Soooo, best of luck to you, Colin. When I retire in four years maybe we can use one to get into a lake where the trout are thiiiiiiiisssss long.

All the best Colin! I know that you'll enjoy yourself in spite of the level of effort that's required :) I'm kinda jelous! The feeling of driving that thing around... not one to be easily equaled. Soak up every minute my friend, you're doing the stuff dreams and memories are made of.

Cheers!
Aaron

omg those silver asics tiger onitsukas would be the perfect accessory!
yup, i think the 'copter suits you well..

best of luck with it colin. my old boss has a robison 22 which he brought me up in which was well cool. I always remember two thing je explained about auto rotation which sounds like a lot of fun and how he ensures he does one every year ( in a rented copter) to keep his hand in I suppose the other was when i asked him why cant you land here or there etc that field seems plenty big his response " see the electric poles feargus ? yes i replied @ do you see the wires connecting them ? @ no i don't @ well thats why he replied

well done and congratulations colin :)
i was watching the blackhawks take off last week and wondered how you were doing....

:friday so what are you doing to celebrate your new cert? :friday
