Hi everybody!
I might go to San Francisco next April for work and would like to bring my fishing stuff with me and maybe stay a week or longer for spearing. Never dived in California so any information is more than welcome, for example I'm pretty sure I need a licence but I don't know 100%. Then of course, if somebody would take me out I would be veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery happy and grateful, it's always best and safer to dive with a local...and of course more fun!
I don't mind to drive miles and miles if the area around San Francisco isn't good as I guess. I'm italian and I live in UK and I usually drive 2 and half hours to reach the sea and I do it every weekend. Let's say I'm pretty obsessed for spearing!roflroflrofl
Hope to hearing from you guys soon!:):):):):)

Dario I don't think we have mamny people from S.F. here on DB, but you may better get in contact with the Monterey Bay Tritons spearfishing club. Monterey Bay Tritons - Monterey Bay Freedive Spearfishing club
If I'm not missing something, Monterey is only 138 km south of S.F. (so says Google) and they have some cool spearing over there.
Drop a line to DB member Twentytwomonk, or David Deman or Tino Bernazzani on Spearboard.com. They're very nice people and avid spearfishers.

Thanks Speghetti!
I don't mind to even drive 500 kilometers if necessary. I'll definitely contact them and see what they say. Apparently they have good spearing over there judging from the photo gallery...:D:D:D:D
Thanks again spaghetti, super nice!:)

Not only will I take you diving I can also take you hunting for porcini. April is the beginning of porcini season in the mountains near SF. It also marks the beginning of abalone season. I will look into the license regs and report back here. Feel free to email me directly - jabsan1@yahoo.com.

Sounds very good, thanks John. A guy from SF in another forum told that April is also starting season for lingcod, is that right? They seem interesting fish!:D:D:D
I'll contact you again as soon as I know I'm going for sure. Deep Regards John!
