My granddaughter Scarlett was born at 7:01 this morning. My son is a an airline pilot and had been getting out of trips because he wanted to be here for it, but he finally had to take one to Kaui. He ended up urging her on on speaker phone while she did it natural.

We got the call that her water had broken at 1230 this morning, and I had to go baby-sit the other kids while Nancy went to the hospital, so I missed being there, but Nancy got video of it. I got the kids off to school and arrived when she was about 2 hours old.

It is truly incredible to see this little being so fresh from the womb. Its almost enough to make an old doubter believe that there is indeed a God. Her eyes were open and following movement, she can already sneeze and yawn, and she is breast feeding with enthusiasm.

I hope that there will be a decent world for her to grow up in.

Bill

Congratulations to you and yours, whatever the faith, there are indeed miracles.

Any idea on fin size yet? Does Omer make them that small? :)

Awesome!

Please forgive the excesses of an old grandpa, but I just have to post photos, even if no one looks at them.:)

Bill, thank you very much for sharing such a beatiful moment with us. Scarlett is a real beauty. God bless her. Congratulations to you and all your family.

I humbly agree. She is quite beautiful.

I'm a crusty old fart, so I was surprised at my reaction when I first saw that perfect little girl. Her mother was just finishing up giving her her first bath, and I teared up when I laid eyes on her.

Do you think they will cancel my USMC pension? :)

From one grandad to another, congrats. Regards to all your family. My grandson, Finlay, is the light of my life. In fact he's changed my life imeasurably for the better. Hope you find same.

Congratulazioni, as we say here in Pastaland. These things are the best of life.
And for your wish, my idea is that if the world had more persons like Bill McIntyre, it would be a better world.

Thanks for all the kind words. My wife and I were talking this morning about how much things have changed for the better over the years. With both of our children, I was not in the room for delivery, and the baby was immediately removed to a nursery.

Scarlett was born naturally, and although there was a lot of screaming involved in the last phase, as soon as she was born she was at her mother's breast and mother was alert and ready to bond with her. By the time I got her siblings off to school and arrived about two hours later, her mother was up at a heated bassinet table giving her the first bath. When I saw it I was so focused on the baby that for a couple of minutes I thought it was a nurse doing the cleaning.

And sorry, but I can't resist a few more pics. These were taken the day after the birth. My son is in his United Airlines uniform because he landed at LAX at 0530 and then drove straight to the hospital.
