I'm pretty new to the whole idea of freediving. I'm very intrigued and look forward to learning and training to freedive. until then I'll be sticking to dry Apnea and relaxation techniques. I've managed a 2:32 breath hold and it was strange and surreal feeling. Not sure how I got to that time because I haven't managed to repeat it yet. It certainly didn't feel like 2:32, maybe that's the key.

Well hello to everyone and I look forward to reading and learning much more from this site.

Welcome to db Nick! Dry apnea's almost a meditation/breathing hobby in itself. Search the forums for O2 & CO2 tables. There's even a great little program you can download to your phone that'll make using tables easy (aStatic Trainer by Stefan Seyer). You'll be dangerous to yourself in no time at all, as improvement comes quicker than most expect. 2:32 is good, but you'll be looking back on it soon. Read these forums A LOT. There's a lot of good and different opinions and methods and (most) all revolve around safety. -Just remember to only train wet with other experienced and prepared freedivers. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Hopefully as warm a welcome when I finally get diving. or maybe not that warm in British waters.
