Hi Guys,
I'm new to this board, as you can see.
I want to get started with spearfishing too, but i live in germany , so i will probably mainly do it on vacations in spain for example or other mediterranean countries.
I have a couple of questions:

1. Do i need a special license to spearfish?

2. How do you practice holding your breath? I can hold it for maybe a minute, but just barely... guess thats not too good.

3. Where can i buy cheap and good equipment on the internet?

4. Do i really need a wetsuit?

I would really apreciate your answers!

thanks guys! :)

Welcome to Deeperblue, and it is a great idea for you to come here for answers to your questions. I'll help as best I can.

1. Probably. You'll need to check with the area where you'll be fishing. Nonresident fees are usually higher than resident fees.
2. The Freediving threads are filled with all the breath hold info you could possibly want. Feel free to browse.
3. The Deeperblue store is a great place for good, inexpensive gear. It is not 'cheap' in terms of quality, but the price is quite reasonable. Shipping should be pretty cheap for you, too. *Note, I'm not an employee, just a satisfied customer :). Feel free to browse the threads, as we're always talking about our equipment.
4. Yep. It'll provide abrasion protection (extremely important), thermal protection (also extremely important!) and probably a loading pad for your speargun. For more info, research wetsuits on the forums.
That's pretty much it, generally. Feel free to browse the boards and ask more questions. Good luck! :)

Welcome, Alien.
As a german, it' will probably help you to know that a spearfishing license is NOT required in the italian sea, while it's strictly necessary in Croatia, Corsica and italian lakes (Garda, Como and Iseo). So, wherever you go, check the local regulations (that's very important!): bounties to pay for violations could ruin your holidays.
For everything else, same as BatRay said.
