any insights on this new weird mask?!?!?!

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Wow, not sure, but would love to try one. Didn't see a price though...

looks interesting, but looks like HUGE internal volume, be a bitch to equalize when freediving!

can inagine your eyes would have triouble adjucting to the extended field of vision.

That mask has been around for a while. It does have a large internal volume and would limit your depth as a result. The idea is to eliminate all refraction from the water to make things look like they do in air. I recall it selling for around $300-$500 depending on the version- I think they used to have two different versions.

the concept of new lens and principle better light absortion!!!(able to see more colors deeper) like the atomic frameless mask is great

what are ur insights on the atomic mask about this issue JON?!?!?

I didn't notice any better light transmission with the Atomic mask over my Micromask. Since the internal volume was so much greater, and it cost a heck of a lot more, I sold it and went back to my favorite freediving mask.

I knew of one local shop that carried the hydroptix mask and they had one instructor working there who loved it, but the place went bankrupt a few years ago and I haven't seen anyone use the mask since then.

Remember guys this mask is for nearsighted users. If You have good vision You need to use contact lenses to become nearsighted temporarily, pain in the butt.

I am nearsighted -4.5 a perfect match. And this mask corrects my sight.

For any type of diving who is not freediving, that is regular scuba, technical, cave, wreck I use the optix, I've had two, and I am planning to buy the third one, and will keep on using them until they stop fabricating it.

It has a super view, is a great mask if you have plenty of air to fill it.

If you are nearsighted and need it for any other diving who is not freediving I recommend it 100%.

It has some isues of foggin and pooling, but the fogging is easily solved with fog drops, the pooling just exhaling once in a while by the nose.

The trouble worth it, and considering that anyway if you are nearsighted you have to buy a prescription lenses mask, is better to buy this one.

If you have good vision or you want a freediving mask, stay away of this one.

atomic frameless and the Hollis M1 use the same glass in fact if you put them side by side the pce of glass is identical inshape and size in both masks, they do have a lower mineral content (purer glass) so colour is truer but only really noticeable when focuing on it. excellent for photgraphers, the other excellent thing about the Hollis (havent tried the Atomic but should be the same) is that the volume is quite low but the field of vision is HUGE! and it fits alot of people unlike the Micromask which in my experience has a problem with putting pressure at the top of the nose.
