Hey all, the other day I got rolled in the surf and had my mask ripped from my face, so I'm now in the market for a new mask. :waterwork:
In the past couple years, I've gone through a mess of masks trying to find "the one". I've spent a good deal of time at dive shops putting on every mask on their rack and have walked out the door with: Mares Star Liquidskin, Mares Star (standard), Aqualung Micromask, Sporasub Mystic, Riffe Frameless, and the Mako Spearguns "ULV" (ultra low volume). All of the aforementioned would feel good or at least passable in the shop, but would not perform up to my needs in the water (except the Mako mask, which was ordered online). The Star was the best I could find, but even it was not ideal (lots of leaking). I am now unfortunately located in an area that doesn't have a single decent dive shop within 2 hours' drive. I am therefore at the mercy of the internet to find my new mask.
Considering my past success with the Mares brand, I've been looking at the X-Vu Liquidskin Mask. I can't find much about it online (in fact I haven't seen a single review!). Mares claims low volume, large field of view and a patented cushion on the brow to avoid painful pressure there. All of those features sound great to me. Does anyone have personal experience with this mask that they could share?
Thanks so much for any help you can offer.
Oh and for reference, I'm a spearo on the west coast of the USA. I do most of my diving in 12-20 meters depth, 8-12 degrees C water temp.
