Hi guys I'm new to DeeperBlue and to spearfishing. Just wondering if there's anyone from Melbourne on here and where the good spots around the back beaches are? Also I've heard about quite a few bronze whaler sitings around Wilson's Prom, are they a big problem and when are they more prevalent? Heading out for my first dive this weekend, Sandy point.

ey mate mebournes got a few good spots its just weather is ussualy a bitch reducing viz to about shit all :P. i go spearfishing at wilsons prom and have never had any probs with bronze whalers its just the stingrays that piss ya off but yer awesome diving around sandy point and wilsons prom. also try around the back beaches at dromana- portsea. theres also some good areas around brighton and mentone area. good luck and happy diving look forward to hearing about some awesome diving trips :)

Haha this post is 8 months old. I've had some good dives on the back beaches and have a mate with a house at sandy point so hopefully I'll get out to the prom when the weather warms up. I've joined the southern freedivers club. Let me know if you wanna go out for a dive any time, I'm about to buy a kayak to dive off so should be good getting out to some spots in the bay.
