I'm an overzealous newbie living in South Eastern PA and would be interested in tips on any coastal or bay sites that are relatively close. Unfortunately, it's a little tough to find really clear water around here.

So far, all my experience has been in quarries (mostly Dutch Springs and there are a few others around that one can sneak into). And I can't knock the quarry diving. There are lots of man-made structures to hang on, wrigglle through etc. that make it a pretty edgy sub-genre -- that and the fact that Dutch has so many SCUBA guys who are amazed to see folks hanging out down there w/o a tank.

If you are a freediver in our region, send me an e-mail (exitmenu@hotmail.com) and maybe we cn dive sometime.

If you are interested, there is a Mid-Atlantic Freediving Club. There are about 30 of us ranging from SE NC(me) to DE and beyond. We have our own listserv and coordinate group dives when possible. This weekend we are chartering a boat out to Frying Pan Shoals Tower. This place is unreal. Several World Records have been speared here. I cannot remember the website off of the top of my head, but you can send a letter introducing yourself to MAFC-LIST@LISTSERV.DARTMOUTH.EDU this will post to all of the members and will help to get you in touch with some of the divers in your area.

Good luck,
Matt

Thanks for the lead Matt. Unfortunately, the list server rejected me :( At any rate, we have a small local band of freedivers in the Philadelphia area -- some of them are really good too. Always interested in meeting a few more people.

At any rate, thanks for the lead. If you know of another way to make contact w/ the group, I'm interested.

Thanks again,
mh
