Hiya, i was wondering if anybody has dived with any xxone carbon fins. I have heard the anax is the dogs 'kahunas' but am also after peoples opinions of the carb xp and carb mim xp blades.

http://www.xxone.gr/en/index.htm

So far i have heard one of the main reasons the anax blades are so good is due to them having very little resin/ no resin on the blades. However i have also been told that you need to get your finning technique spot on as the blades aren't very forgiving, if poor technique is used.

If anybody has tried, seen or used any of the above blades please let me know what you think of them.

Cheers Ian

I've seen it in one of the expo here, you can PM Speero here on DB and he can tell you more about it. He's a local distributor here. Its 77 cm, nice shape on the edge, shiny and lots of stiffness to choose from(soft, medium soft, medium, medium hard, hard)and also lightweight. In Speero's opinion, its like a C4 falcon with a different edge shape and performs much better if i remeber it correctly. Speero is also selling Pathos footpockets to go along with the blades. You just have to glue it, no screws unless you use other type of footpockets, but the blades has no holes. I just hesitated to buy coz of the lenght. I was looking for something longer. Its 5 cm longer than the beuchat mundial carbon that i have. I ended up buying Spierre carbon fins which the South African spearo National team are using. I got the 82 cm especially made. The XX One i believe is the choice of the Greek Spearo National team. I'm expecting my Spierre Pure Carbon by next week and will post a review after i tried it if you want other options. He's a friend of Island_Sands also if you cant get a hold of him. I hope that helps.:friday

Hudasmt, thanks for the reply. I had a look at the spierre carbon fins whilst in South Africa, they looked like nice fins. However after diving a season with my xxone pro mim (fiberglass) fins i am pulled towards buying xxone again as i know exactly what stiffness to order and i also know the standard of workmanship is good.

I have a pair of c4 flacon 40's which are way to stiff, great for straight up and down diving but very poor when trying to hang/ glide around a flasher.

Cheers Ian

Yes it's true the greek national spearfishing team is diving with xxone. I own a pair of xxone carbon xp fins. They come in various degrees of stiffness but since you know what suits yours..They are very good fins light weight and very durable. No holes on them, only glue. Regarding the anax I heard that is even better but haven't tried them.

Maradona, have you tried the carb mim xp blades, do you know if there is much of difference between them and your xp blades?

Cheers Ian

When I wanted to buy them the manufacturer (Tasos Halaris) told me that the only difference is in the camo. And the camo ones were 50 euros more expensive. So, no there is no difference in the stiffness, only in the appearance.

My brother in law has them and says they're very good, so they must be very good. He's not a gear geek, but he's a serious hunter and wouldn't recommend them if they were crap. Trust my bro on these fins. :)

I'm surprised they're are no other reviews of these fins. I just finished glueing mine last night and I will report on them once I have used them. I also have Spierre Pure Carbons.

I have used the XXOnes a handful of times and have nothing but good things to say about them. Very light mounted in the Pathos footpocket and very reactive, more propulsion than I would of thought for a 75cm blade.

Hey Ian

I've borrowed this fin from my instructor and as you have mentioned exactly you have to work great on your technique... i made my 25 meters dive before trying these fins and when i used them i could get only to 20 meters and i felt that i can not go more i felt like it was not efficient for me but of course it was my fining technique which is not efficient. The other guyz at my group did great job with this fin.

Hello. I've been using the anax xxone fins for about a year now.. they've been awesome, love 'em. Prior carbon fins before these have been C4 falcons (broke on 4 diff ocasions), SCL pinne in carbonio - great - but a bit heavy with the omer millenium pockets, and Carbon Tech fins - did really enjoy these. My favorite has been the anax - however - the only problem encountered were with the pathos pockets.. the two together are the bomb.. made wonderfully for one another... but after a year one of the side rubber leg binds broke with the pathos foot pocket and had to wait a few months for a new shoe to arrive - otherwise, no complaints.
In the meanwhile there were no substitute pockets that I know of that would go well with the anax for various reasons... so if you do purchase the blades, do recommend purchasing an extra pair of pathos pockets.. depending on how much wear and tear you expect to put on them.
Good luck with whichever fins you select. Have fun, dive wise.

I have heard that the newest 3rd gen Pathos footpockets are softer and should be more durablel

Did you buy these here in S. FLA? I am interested in checking these out. At the moment I am using the Carbon Tec's - have had them for a couple of years - and they are pretty stiff for me. I could get the Pathos footpockets from Dan in Ft Lauderdale if the blades don't come with the pockets.

Thanks,
Patrick (in HOllywood, FL)

Guys what size of pathos should I buy...
I am shoe size 45 european and I need a pair of pathos footpockets to use with 3mm socks.
Any suggestions?
They say footpockets are relatively small compared to others but I do not ant them big.
