Has anyone stayed in Kathmandu before? Looking for a decent hotel and dont want to take recommendations from locals.

Been there but as a backpacker with much lower standarts (and expense account). Was still hard to find a relatively clean place no water related problems.
The everest steakhouse has a decent steak for a hindu country. :)
Lost of old ruins and impressive nature in Nepal, what are your plans?

I am only there for 3 days, central Kathmandu, visit suppliers and back out again. Was looking for a decent hotel - folks have recommended the Radisson, Crowne Plaza - its hard to figure out how convenient they are in the scheme of things.

We stayed in the Karma Inn in Thamel. Was great for $8 a night for 2 people! and Mr Peru the manager helped us out a lot when our trekking agency was shut down by the police and all the guides and staff put in prison for 3 days.

it seems your budget may be a bit higher though!

Posh! Though at that altitude, you might want a small oxygen bottle, just in case.
