Anyone one tried this loader?

Not tried one but looks like it would be worth trying....

That's what I was thinking when I first saw it.

I've tried it.
I was not satisfied because the cords tangled continuity

I can see that being a problem.
The cord that came with it seems like they are just regular nylon braided cords.
Do you think changing it out to 400lb mono will help with the tangling issue?

Thanks!

Do not you know only use once, after I bought the OMER,is simpler
http://www.diveshop.gr/index.php/product2701.html

I saw that one too and it does look like it's a simpler design but for us here in US the price of the Omer loader costs 4 times the Mares one ($29 vs $7) so that's why I was not even considering the Omer one.

Also, after looking at the Omer loader, I can see that it has a fixed opening (the lower "handle") to accommodate the spear tip and floppers whereas the Mares is a two piece construction. To use the Mares you just simply sandwich the shaft in the middle and pull. No need to worry about the spear tip being able to fit through the loader. Might be a non-issue but I can't know for sure by just looking at photos on websites.

Mares is most intelligent, but in the sea is ungovernable for me .I chose Omer has easier use and let's not be so smart, and I have no problems
(I use google for translation)

Thanks for taking the time to take and post the photos.

Yeah I can totally imagine unless in a totally calm condition, the Mares can be quite a handful being that it consists of three separate parts tied together by strings.

Thanks again for taking the time to post your experience and the photos.

This is what i use on mine. Easy to tuck into my belt. Made from shapelock

Very very cool! I didn't even know Shapelock existed! Looks like I might need a jar of it right next to my box of JBweld

I was all ready to heck up a couple of loaders before I saw the Mares loader. I still might go with the DIY route but since the Mares loader is so cheap I'll give it a shot first.

Thanks for the shot, very cool indeed.

You can use marine pvc and make it yourself. Easy to cut and durable.

You mean PVC pipe?

I'm familiar with sch 40, 80 etc PVC pipes but I have not heard of PVC pipes specially made for marine applications.

I can see how one can be made with a short piece of Sch80 PVC pipe cut opened with a hole for the shaft and two smaller one for the string/cable.

Thanks for the idea.

Not pipe. Pvc sheets, like starboard. Easy to cut and durable. Basically cut the mold to a regular loader.

ah Starboard, I have looked into it for other DIY projects but I have yet to find a good place to get it locally here in LA. Most places I was able to find that carries Starboard require buying a whole sheet and it was too expansive for my application.

You can always go to homedepot for starboard or cutting boards...

I didn't know that Home depot sells Starboard!
I googled and the item came up but as far as I can see, all the Los Angeles area Home depot do not carry Starboard.

Cutting board, so Starboard is basically HDPE? So it's nothing special?
