Hi All

Am thinking of getting a Citizen Aqualand, I do not need it for scuba, just freediving, but have always quite fancied them.
Does anyone use it for freediving, and do they have the basic depth / bottom time displays that R 'freediving-friendly'.

Cheers

jeff.

Are you spearing too? I had one but could not get the annoying beep-beep rapid ascent alarm to switch off, which spooked fish. Someone told me this could be unofficially 'fixed' but I just stopped using it for spearing.

Whoa!!! I am mainy spearing ! thanks for that advice Spainard !!

Ive been using a Citizen Promaster for six years now and its my best pal. Its basically a beefed up Aqualand with analog display. When wet and in dive mode you get a live depth meter reading after 1 meter deep, measuring 0.1m difference per sec. Time is also displayed and can be checked easily with a flick of the wrist. The dive log it keeps is selective to 8 dives I think and will record the deepest dive in a session, the time and average depth of the dive, and the temperature at max depth. Furthermore will record when you went in and came out of the water and total time spend under 1 meter during the session. The beeps you can regulate. Its a depth alarm, time alarm that you can set, and you can also set the number of beeps you want to hear. For example 1 beep as you are passing 15m zone and 2 beeps when total dive time is over 80 secs. If you dont want any beeps then you set it that way. The only spontaneous alarm is a rapid ascent alarm that SOMETIMES goes off with two beeps. As far as im concerned the fact that they scare fish is a complete myth. Besides that very good looking watch and bloody indestructible.

I have the Hyper Aqualand and other freedivers said they could hear the rapid accent alarm from 30' feet away. Don't know if it would scare the fish though.

I have been selling these Citizen watches for many years. Let me know exactly which model you are interested in and I will loan you a brand new one so you can test it out. Then either return it or pay for it. Retail price less 20%. Underwater, I wear a Suunto, because I got one free for the Hawaii comp, otherwise I would choose Citizen because its a watch you can wear all the time. You cant get away with a D3 under your suit sleeve.

mmm.. well I wore my Stinger with a ball dress earlier this summer.... but then I also forgot I still had duck weed in my hair so maybe I didn't really get away with it....

Good 1 Sam !

I have been to so many functions after a freediving session where the water and the big blue just short circuits my brain and causes me to lose track of time...and I arrive wearing sandals, bermuda's and a fuzzy old salty t-shirt, apologising profusely !!
