I've been researching wetsuits, have come to the conclusion that I will probably go with a custom sized, if I can get the money together elios or the suits P.F.I. sell would be ideal, but I found a site diveskin.net that sells custom sized (oceanos) freedive suits, heiwa neoprene-slick outer nylon inner for 159.00 usd, I know open cell inner would be ideal but has anyone used this suit? is it good? junk? I dive arms forward with a monofin, are the shoulders very flexible?

Wait a few days and I will tell you more - last week I ordered one (open cell inside and nylon out, 3mm). :)

thanks for the reply, hope to hear about your suit soon, it really sounds like a great deal

Do a search on DiveSkin ;). Most of the opinions I've read are quite positive. Supposedly they have a fast delivery and average quality. A lot cheaper than Elios though.
Probably going to get one myself.

The fast delivery? It looks even faster.
I have ordered it on Saturday. On Sunday I got mail that the suit will be put in production on Monday and sent on Friday!!!
So I could get it until next weekend. Let's wait and see.

Some my friends here in Czech ordered Elios wetsuits - it took more then 8 MONTHS to get them!!!!!!
So - I think nothing could be slower....

As I wrote already before, I had my DiveSkin home in four days after ordering and sending my measures to Spiros. Actually it was less than four days - just around three and half. I ordered the custom suit Sunday late night (Spiros replied immediately) and it came by mail on Thursday morning. Well, the suit may not be as nicely finished as Elios, and the packaging was little bit surprising (just a simple plastic bag), but the suit fitted perfectly and I am now using it the second year without any serious damage.

Yes, as mentioned in the first post, it is diveskin.net ;)

Less then three weeks and I have my suits at home.
Pretty soft, nice blue cammo pattern. :inlove
First trial run/dive is to be held this weekend. I'll post about it here.

:)

congrats on the new suit, that is amazing delivery time for a custom made, excited to hear how it works

Here I am with the report.

All I can say is: WHOA :)

Until now some my friends told me - once you try opencell you won't have it another way. They were right. It's so perfect. My old wetsuit I used for freediving was normal surfing suit 3/2 mm, short sleeves which I combined with 3 mm long sleeve shirt. And still I was cold after about an hour. Maybe less. But today we were able to dive for two hours. And the temperature in the depth was like 10 degrees I guess.
Diveskin call it's opencell "slick". Since I'm not from English speaking country and I didn't check the dictionary, I didn't know exactly what does it mean, but once I put the lube on it and whole suit on me - I know. :)
The feeling is excellent. Even the cut of the suit is perfect and there is no squeezing or any unpleasant feelings. Just perfect fit. :inlove

My friend has bought 5mm opencell inside, smooth outside Elios.
I also bought black 7mm nylon both side - intended to use on scuba. That suit I didn't try yet.

Last words: Diveskin = fast delivery, nice quality. Recomended. (by me at least) :p

Can anyone confirm: Is Diveskin/Oceanos located in Greece? And for those who've received a suit in North America, what were the shipping costs like?

Cheers,

Thanks for the pics and report, I think I'll get one. I currently dive in my surf wetsuit and its no good, I've never had good luck with of the rack suits there is always something that does'nt fit quite right, a custom suit this cheap and quick is amazing, eventually I would like to get the elios with the arms forward cut, but I think the diveskin will make for a good first suit

Mine cost $185 including shipping to Utah, USA and that included some extra "pads" added to the suit to protect the knees so I don't tear it up on the ocean floor. I am 95% sure he is in Greece, but I ordered this just over a year ago so I don't recall what the label said on the package. I really love the suit, I just got done using it today, and I am buying another once this one finally gets ruined by my inexperience dealing with tides (also I need to lose some fat, the custom fit shows how much I have put on since I ordered it).

Yes, Diveskin suits are from Greece - there were Thessaloniki address on the parcel with my suits

I have no experience with this wetsuit, but I think you shouldn't compramize and go for the open-cell.
I had a Picasso open-cell suit, it served me well for almost three years.
when I came to buy a new one, I got the feeling that the material is a little diffrent, so I've decided to give a try to a new company called Hookset Global.
I knew them from the rods arena, so although I couldn't find any reviews on the web I decided to give it a try (same materials as picasso - high quality Yamamoto open-cell neoprene for half the price)
I saw one Hookset's suit for sell on ebay, if you're at the right size I'd give it a try (almost the same price as the suit you mentioned) [ame="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280145367373&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:Watchlink:middle:us"]http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280145367373&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:Watchlink:middle:us[/ame]

Cheers,

yo sean,

i bought a custom elios 6mm top 5mm bottoms in jan --- shipping was around 50 euros depending upon the weight.

the elios suit has been excellent---top notch quality and fit.

researching custom suit options i came across jon's rather negative experience with diveskin, in these threads:

http://forums.deeperblue.net/freediving-equipment/73229-advice-equipment.html
http://forums.deeperblue.net/altasub/66189-elios-suits.html

this fall/winter i am planning to get another elios suit for summer, as mine is too hot in warm summer condition, 3mm this time.

sean, if you are planning on buying a suit perhaps we might be able to get them shipped together and save on the costs? or another vancouverite planning on an elios purchase in the next few months? let me know.

later,

sean

how much did the elios suit cost? how long did it take them to make it? I really like that they have an arms forward cut for monofin.

It depends which model. A 5 mil open cell in/pelagos camo out suit costs about 175 euros - the same suit with 'new black' coating in is 209e. Best is to email them with what you want. They are currently saying suits are 30 days out. shipping to the states adds about 60e. Their suits are flawless.

Second the opinion on Eliossub. I bought one of their custom suits last year for my wife. It's an open cell interior, nylon exterior, two piece freediving suit. The construction, material quality, and fit were perfect, as was the service.
