Pretty self explanatory, if anyone has used Captain Nemo power fins in any stiffness blade I would love to know your thoughts on the fins. I am looking at getting a pair and can get a stiff pair of blades pretty cheap which I could use when I become super man and start diving deeper than 30m. Of course I would require water deeper than 30m to do that in and since the likely hood of finding that in melbourne is almost impossible they may become a permanent wall fixture. Getting off track here, any comments will be appreciated.

Jono

Great fins, I have stiffness no.3 and they are quite stiff, alot more than cressi gara 2000hf's
You don't really need a stiff fin to dive deeper I find it takes more out of you and reduces your bottom time.
Dave

I use a pair with stiffness number 2 blades and yes they really are very good, although I wish I’d gone for the number 3 blades as the 2’s are fairly soft.
Spot on for surface swimming mind so it’s not all bad with the number 2 blade I just feel they’re a bit soft on some of the dives.
Buy a set you wont regret it.:):)

I am interested in these fins. The blades are $110. Complete fins are $199. But shipping from Ukraine is $21 for blades and $89 for complete fins. I was to order #3 since I am 225lb with 24lbs of lead.

I actually ordered the blades, but it is on hold since the website shipping was incorrect.

Will the #3 be OK for my large mass?

Is there a better way to get these fins without the expensive shipping?

I am over 6ft and 16 and a half stone (230ish lb)! and I find them great.

I am contemplating canceling my order after reading information about angled DiveR fins versus non-angled Capt. Nemo Blades.

Is there really a difference as night and day between angled versus non-angled fins for ocean shore divers?

Nemo blades are good. I have them in Omer footpockets, which suit me.

Pro's;
Well established design and proven track record.
Need to choose the right stiffness (true of many fins and whatever the stiffness they will work reasonably well).
Tough as old boots. Can take some rough treatment and never break.
Blades themselves are excellent value for money when available - (see below)

Against;
Old design and old technology.
Trying to buy them. Just not widely available and shiping is always a problem (unless you're lucky).

My 2pence worth.

Dave.

Although being of Ballerina proportions myself roflroflrofl I can say that they have always got me where I want to go.
Captain Nemo fins, just the job.:):)

cmburch,
Have you visited the Performance freediving website?
They carry the Nemo fins and blades for about the same price, and should be much cheaper for shipping.
As far as the angle is concerned. A dive buddy here just went with DiveR fins, and said the performance increase is fantastic. He is very happy with the high angle of the DiveR fins and wouldn't go back to flat blades.

Yes, that is the website that I placed the order with the incorrect $7 FedEx shipping. Which is actually $21 Shipping for blades - great deal. But $89 shipping for complete set makes the foot pockets at about $160 additional cost - not good deal.

I will have to consider the great cost difference of $110 + $21 = $131 good price for straight fiberglass blades versus the cost of angled blades.

Does anyone know a DiveR vendor or website for the US?

I will probably just OK the additional shipping and have my order for #3 blades completed through Performance Freediving since it is within my budget.

Thanks for the response guys. The lack of angle worries me a little, Has anyone compared them to Picasso Carbono GP21's? Which stiffness is similar to them?

Try this... I've bought gear here: Capt.Nemo Power Fins

Cmburch,

I am about to order my fins from finswimworld, 35Euro shipping to Aus and it should be a little cheaper to the US. I think the cost of getting 1 -3or4 pairs doesn't chage a huge amount, so see if anyone else from your way wants a pair and you'll save on the shipping.

Yes, it looks like the cost of a complete set of fins is the same $199 and 30Euros for shipping from finswimworld. If this is correct, I will cancel my order for blades from Performance Freedive and order the complete set from finswimworld.

FWIW, a friend of mine has a set that I tried a few years back... they were phenomenal fins.

I think I am back to square one. Performance Freedive in Florida handles it for finswimworld in the US. It looks like if I want to order the complete fin set, I must pay $89 shipping and hope for a return on some of the shipping costs if the cost is lower. I would really like the complete fin versus putting them in my Picasso foot pockets. That way I have 2 sets of fins.

CmBurch, I can find out the cost of shipping fins from Aus to Us and can include your set in my order? maybe just the pockets as is would probably be cheaper? I wouldn'tthink it to be more than US$40?

I have a set.. stiffness 5.. great fin... have used them for many years ZERO complaints..

im intersted in upgrading currently (see my other thread) only because i have excess cash..

good fin get on it :)_

Thank you very much for the offer.

Erin of Florida Performance Freedivers cut me a deal like FinSwimWorld.

I have a slightly similar problem with Omer, Mares, etc. when buying in the US. You can only buy through certain US distributors at about a 30% increase in price.
