Thought I would throw this out and see if anyone knew of anything going on this year. If not does anyone recomend a group to go out with? I would like to get salty but don't have enough experience to go out in the ocean, plus I break the rules and do most of my diving alone.

Thanks, Derek (Eugene, OR.)

I see that we have 22 people that have looked at this thread. Does this mean that we have somewhere around 22 people freediving in this fine state of ours? If so maybe we should set something up for a group outing. I have gone up to Clear Lake a couple of times here in the last month, is this a possibility? Or does anyone have some suggestions? I wouldn't mind getting salty if there are people out there who have more experience in the ocean than I do.

It seems that everyone here is a little shy. So I will put my e-mail address here and if you live here in Oregon/S. Washington and would like to dive with us, drop me an e-mail.

I really should be honest and let you know that something like 4 people have e-mailed and we are thinking of getting together to get wet (salt or fresh, not sure yet, hopefully both). So really, let me know and I will keep you in the loop, this means you too Cliff.

Let's make this happen, Derek (manofbio13@yahoo.com)

Its a lonely business getting a freediving club started :(
But hang in there: 5 years ago I swear I was the only fdiver in Alberta, now we have a little club with about 10 people, 4 hardcore :)
Best of luck,
dive safely,
Erik Y.

Thanks for the good words and I will hang in there. I do have a couple of people that have contacted me, so it's looking good so far. I am going diving today with one guy (Clear lake, OR.) and another guy tomorrow up east of Salem. I can't wait to get salty though, it has been at least ten years for that.

For those who are interested I am thinking of heading up to Clear lake on the 19th or 20th of August for a full moon dive. If you are interested let me know.
-Come on Oregonians I don't want to do this one by myself-

In Vancouver BC is a very active freediving community. Maybe a weekend up there to meet some good people and then invite them down to Oregon sometime?
Oregon is beautiful I hear. When I worked on a liveaboard out of Vancouver, I met lots of Oregon scubadivers, even a group from Eugene. You guys have an accent with a bit of a southern drawl as I remember. Nice people.
Possibly a few of us from Alberta would come down next year if there's some good spearfishing there.
Peace,
Erik Y.

I'm going to have to get some folks together here first, then maybe a field trip up north. Thanks for the invite and you guys are always welcome to come down here and try out our fresh and salt diving.

if you;re ever heading to alaska, I'm in Prince George, BC (halfway point) and freedive almost year round... need a new chainsaw blade first.... :D

Do you guys spearfish, or just see how deep you can go? i scuba, may try freediving, but not sure what the point is...depth or catch??
