Hello, community! Being deprived of possibility to train in the pool, I was wondering what is the average ratio of your apnea walking/pool dynamics time (relaxed walking and relaxed swimming)? Thanks for sharing!

if you way any calculation ratio i would like to know i could walk last summer 414 steps as holding my breath on the beach , last week i tried but it was 212 steps with empty stomach (very early morning) big droping due to big break for apnea . no time

Hello, Sedate! Thanks for the info!I have just started freediving and haven't the opportunity to train regularly in the water (it is prohibited to train apnea in the swimming pools in this village) and lake is still cold and the wetsuit is still on its way. What I wanted to get from this thread is a rough approximation of this relationship from you experienced apneists. i undestand that there is no strict formula, but it would add up to my motivation and focus a bit, because having so many water at your door step and not being able to dive is a bit discouraging.
However, I do hope that someone can add up a bit to this topic. As soon as I will get in the water I will post my numbers.

You shouldn't use others' numbers. Just focus on what you can do with the apnea walking. As you improve, your diving will also improve. Your goal for training should be to improve, so don't get side tracked by looking at the numbers from othersw.

Do be careful with dynamic training in a lake (or a pool). You should be doing it with a dive buddy.

Howard

Thanks for the tip, Howard. I am working in this direction. I am afraid I will have to organize a club in here to find a buddy.

Well my walking apneas just sucks :) I can do around 120 double steps (counting just one leg steps) in time of aprox 2min... That's really not so good... I have a friends that can do walking apneas almost twice that long... but they can't do it in water...

I'm just bad at dry land, i can't do more then 5min static or 2min walking, and in pool, I easy do 7+min static or 3min dynamic swim... So I'll put it this way, it's not about time and distance you can pull of at dry land, it's just training for pool. So, do walking apneas, as long as you can, but that's not dynamic, so don't be too sad if you do it short, or opposite, too much exited if you do it long...

That's just training and preparation for the real stuff ;)

Good infos Goran.
i calculated 212/2.5min. i walk very very slowly ..cons comes after 150 .. i do not know but i get spazm first around when i am 100-120 ..when come to 150 i get first strong cons.. my breath up patern ..deep breath %70 fill up and walk hopes gives an idea

Well to be honest, I stooped doing walking apneas and started to do cycling apneas instead. I find it much bether and I feel my legs much more while cycling. Of course you do that at indore bike, not cycling in highway ;) Like this I can do about the same time like on my max dynamic swim. My bike training is currently like this, I first do max apnea at slow cycling rate, then 50min of 70% pace and final 10min at 100%.

My breath up is always the same, slow relaxed breathing for cupple of minutes, then when I feel ready I do 3-5 deep breaths, then final one + packing and go. And I actually like more to get my contractions earlier then too late in the dive, because when I get it late that means I have over breath and I can's tolerate them for too long... For example on my last 200m swim, I got contractions at around 60m i think.

what is your map in your brain Goran?..
concerning after euphoria. i mean you lost hearing outside.. you go into deep of slince ..maybe starts after 4:30min or 5:30 till 8 minute. i have done 3-4 times 7:32min last year but lost my map of euphria section..
actualy , simple is the best..

Goran, thanks for your observations! Comparison of out and in the water experience is rather interesting.
Sedate, have you tried the relaxation method described in Umberto's book? Visualizing the colours and trying to feel every single part of your body? I believe it is not really a "map", but it will keep you mind from wondering.

svitliy,
i planed to read all writen in book ..sory but i did not complete it . i read some apart of books. it is too difucult for me to understand what the book says. it is written in english but it looks not english ..looks like a different english intonation/accent.
i read it but i did not understood it very well.
The reason can be my poor english or not..notsure!
