April 9th & 10th Ft Lauderdale

Whopperhead and I are going to be in Florida at the beginning of April for FIT in Ft Lauderdale. The 9th and 10th we are looking to go out spearing. If anyone with a boat is available, that is ideal of course (isn't it always??). Otherwise, what are the shore dive locations? Can anyone help a couple of Midwestern saltwater spearo newbs out?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
 
I got the "Run&Gun" (3 mannwaverunner) will fit another spearo you guys flip for it I'll take you outrofl
 
Hmmmm....can that pull one spear behind sitting on a float?
 
Hey man where do I fit in! Steel you got enough of those home made bouys to make a rope so I can hang from ! or should I just fallow you guys on my boat! lol

Whopperhead can go on the runner, I'll go in the boat! If you guys are up to go on those days, let us know. We can chip in for gas or meet you for a shore dive.
 
If the weather permits its a sure thing... headed outa Miami...If I set up the dinghy (for the gear) in that time maybe, just maybe we can do 3...you fellows Big Northerners
 
Big northerners? Nah...I'm 6'4 225lbs. Scotts a land monster though he's like 5'3 350lbs!

Edit: Scott and I at Lake Michigan. Maybe he's a little taller than 5'3 and not quite 350

5'3"! c'mon Andre the Giant! I'm 5'11" and about 200# ILDiver is more like 7'4" look at that pic- He's Ginormous!!!! That Day I offered him a protein energy bar, he said "no thanks" and then ate a poodle!!!! Behind his back I call him Shrek (but don't tell him that)
 
I don't know if you guys have mid week during the day to go out spearing, I know it's a tough time to get out. Are there any charter boats that take freedivers out to spearfish? Or any other good ideas? If you can get out and go with us/take us...GREAT!
 
Dang, glad I asked...ILDiver whatya eat growing uprofl...You need to be on one of them Cruise ships headed out of the Port.

I'll see if I can set it up on a ship, er,eh I mean boat...don't get your hopes up to high April is notorious for strong winds...but you never know
 
A daytime dive with the locals is your best bet, but, if that doesn't come off, there is a night dive in Miami that can be a hoot and score you some tasty protein. Parts of it can be sheltered, depending on wind direction. PM me if you need to.

Connor, one option may be looking in the St Pete to Sarasota area and staying with my parents a few extra days.
 
there is a good chance that i will have the boat out one of those days. If the weather permits, of course. You guys are welcome to join us. If all goes well, I will be on the boat Sunday,and/or possibly Tuesday(with the FIT class, practicing) we can talk then. You cheesheads are gonna have fun!

S.S. and armandozx, if your around and available, meeting up for at least a good shore dive would be cool too. Once it gets closer and have a rough idea of weather. Keep us in mind
 
Hard to pick from such a set of offers. If it looks like you will be coming this way, let me know and I'll see what I can set up in fresh water. I don't do much in the gulf any more.

How about this Connor,
You come over to the East side on the 9th or 10th. If the seas are calm enough, We spearfish off of my boat.(I will run it down to Ft. Lauderdale) There are some descent spots in the 30-75' range down there and the current is much less than up here in West Palm. If the seas are crazy, we bodysurf!? Its about time I get to see you showcase your bodysurfing skills.(BTW, I just noticed that I had a pm from you. I'm sorry I missed the dive up there.)

Connor, we are probably going to be in Sarasota on Wed the week before. I'm going to call Florida West tomorrow and see if they will let us freedive for teeth off their boat on Thurs. Otherwise, maybe a freshwater dive! Where do you go for freshwater? North of Orlando?

Tony, what is the distance to West Palm from Pro Dive? About 40 miles? We can drive up to you. Well... spring break....it may be a 1.5 hour drive

Steve won't let us dive for teeth. He lost a scuba diver 2 weeks ago, the guy was bigger I guess and had a heart attack. Then the kid just died in Ft Lauderdale, he's kinda nervous and I can understand.
