Well, this is a totally new twist on fish farming. I suppose somebody had to think of it:

$1800 Gets You Sneakers Made From Stingrays Customized Through Genetic Engineering

You can even enter a competition to order up new colour combos.

Would these be the ultimate status fashion accessory for freediving sybarites :girlie, or are they kind of dorky?

Definitely interesting. Obviously a bit clever but I am not a fan myself. Mind you at $,1800 my opinion matters little, I can never afford them!! :D

Cool idea, but the end results looks kinda like Converse, only less refined.

That's like the place down in Texas that will take you out into the bayou to catch a batch of bullfrogs and then make a pair of boots out of the skins for you. Price? About the same.

Well, I just hope none of these genetically modified little guys get loose into the environment. Their offsppring with crazy pink & green zigzags would have a very hard time camouflaging themselves in the sand!

Followup: Aquaculture sneakers. Elaborate hoax!

They spent two years on that prank. That takes some serious dedication.
