Hi,

Does anyone have any experience in using arch supports for fins? I just got a new pair of carbon fins and my arches hurt? My sense is that both power and comfort might be improved
with more suport.

Thanks,

Doug

Underwater hockey players have been using 'fin stiffeners' for years. Just cut out a piece of 1/8" polyethelyne or 1/16" fiberglass to fit on the bottom of the fin pocket. These can be hard on the foot pocket though so be sure to smooth the edges of the stiffener and maybe use padding and careful fitting. The stiffeners transfer the stress of kicking from the top of your feet to the heel. You may need a bigger foot pocket or a thinner sock after you put in your stiffeners.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a try. I was going try out some inserts today, but then this big bunch of snow came....

Thanks again and best wishes,

Doug
