Hi!

Is there anybody knows that beuchat footpoccket are compatible for example C4 blades or other (Omer) blades?
What is your opinion about the Beuchat Mundial Competiton fins, or the footpocket which holds the blade?

Im new here, so HI to All!

thanks,
Adam, Hungary

hi, wow, i was just coming on here to ask a question about the beuchat fins, hope u dont mind if i drop it in your thread, as i dont see the sense in making 2 threads about almost the same thing :)

has anyone used the beuchat mundial sport fins? im thinking about getting a pair but i want to know how soft/stiff they are before i spend my $

I use a pair of Beuchat Mundial Competition fins since about 3 or 4 years. The foot pocket is very good and comfortable - in fact it ranked at the absolute top in this review (Hmm, the link seems to be dead now :( but it was a comparative test of about 15 different freediving fins), but I found them quite hard when using them outdoors on long trips with a lot of surface swimming. For this reason, when I started training regularly in the pool, I ordered the softer "sport" blades, but finally they never came, so I am still with the harder "competition" ones. However, in the meantime, I got used to them in the pool. When I tried some softer fins of other freedivers in our club, I had the feeling I do not advance at all and have to paddle quit fast. I have to make yet another trip to the sea (hopefully next week) to see if the training helped for a longer open water freediving trips too.

As for the interchangeability - I was curious about it too, and was considering to get the rather cheap C4 blades that were on eBay (I missed the closing date :( ), but I am not sure if it is without problems. When I asked Dennis Haussler from Fathom20 (Matrix fins), he wrote he assembled their blades (they actually come from WaterWay) with Beuchat foot pockets, but that it was little bit complicated. I am not sure what exactly it means, and how is it with other blades, bu suspect it may be similar.

BTW, Beuchat does carbon blades for the pockets too, but I did not hear any feedback on them, and do not know anyone who owns the blades.

The freedving fin comparative test is still in Google cache, but the original PDF is converted to HTML, so the pictures are missing, and the formatting is screwed up, but it can give you some information (if you understand French :) ). You can also try the Google translation (good luck! :D )

Thanks for the fast reactions guys. To be honest while you were posting i went out and bought a Beuchat Mundial Competition. Its funny i have a wide, 43-44 sized feet, but the 41/42 is good for me with this one.
I tried today the Cressi Gara, and the Omer Ice blades, but their footpockets were very uncomfortable for me. Some said soft footpockets can be instable, but none of them had this Beuchat fins. So im very happy that Trux has good opinion about it, especially because its a bit harder. Its good for dynamic training, although i also planned to use it for open water, and snorkeling, which uses a lot of surface swimming.
Do u have tips for good snorkel fins, for shallow water (15-20m) cruising?
Do u have experience with Omer Ice, Cressi Gara's, or Mares Apneist?
Are the carbon blades far better in shallow water as well, or only in the deep?
Unfortunately i dont speak french...

See you, guys!

That sounds like you tried them without any neoprene socks! That's a bad mistake. You should prefreably come back to the store and test them with at least 3mm socks (or thicker if you use to dive sometimes in colder waters). Freediving fins, unlike common snorkelling fullpocket fins, are designed to be worn with socks.

Mea culpa, mea culpa...

Then i have to go and try all the fins again.
Freediver mates said that wearing neopren socks gives less accuracy, an extra between the feet and fins is not so good.
Do u agree with them or u think the difference is slighter?

Adam

There sure are freedivers who prefer no socks in fins, but personally I know no one. I wouldn't tell it adds inaccuracy - rather the opposite - it helps filling the pockets really well and transmitting the power properly, without giving you discomfort or blisters like it can be with fins on naked feet. Additionally, if you plan diving in cold water sometimes, then you won't like to do it without socks. And if you dive some 20m deep, then it can be pretty cold even in summer (unless you are in tropes)

I'm one of them ;)
I have Gara 2000HF and find then quite OK without sox

Well, I do plan to use them mainly in warm waters

An old thread but Google still serves it up, so one further comment: my feet shrink when cold & expand when wet and the difference is significant. I use Beuchat Competition fins, mostly I wear neoprene socks with them but when it is particularly warm (fairly uncommon in Britain :( ) I find that: (1) I prefer not to wear socks and (2) my feet are larger and so fit better w/o socks - so that works out very well :)

BTW I wear size 45 shoes generally (46 wellies with insoles & thick socks) and size 45-46 Beuchat fins fit me as described above.
