Are Polespears allowed in bahamas or just Hawaiian Slings?

It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
You'd have to check with the Bahamian Consulate, but that question came up at the Neptune's meeting last night and the consensus was that pole spears were legal in Jamaica and in the Bahamas. Whether or not any of the commentators had ever tried it is another question.

I was in the Bahamas 18mths ago and they were selling pole spears in the dive shops out there.:)
& I did notice a number of signs around my resort prohibiting the use of spearguns.

Both pole spears and Hawaiian slings are legal for freedivers in the Bahamas. I live on Andros Island, Bahamas and verified with the Bahamian government a few months ago.

Have fun!

Thanks Delfino, now i have to decide between a nice folding polespear or a speargun, either way im getting both, but which one to buy first.
